When I got off work today I headed straight to Staples to pick up our wedding invitations. Since we created them ourselves, I sent them to Staples to have them printed on cardstock one of their high-tech printers.
They turned out pretty nice… but not perfect. I definitely want to add a little ribbon or something to make them look a little fancier. Ryan likes them and I think I may be looking at them too critically. Hopefully once I add a few personal touches I’ll be happier with the final product. I just don’t want our invitations to look too homemade. Crafty-looking = good, cheap looking = bad.
Let’s hope they come together. There’s still a lot to do related to these invitations!
Dinner
After spending about an hour at Staples (there were some issues with the cutting machine), I headed home and go to work on dinner.
Tonight we enjoyed sloppy joes with roasted Brussels sprouts.
I love the vinegary taste of these ‘joes! I made them using my mom’s recipe and they’re oh-so-tasty!
I prepared the Brussels sprouts by chopping off the ends, slicing them in half and tossing them in olive oil and garlic salt. I then roasted them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
After dinner I was craving a sweet treat, and since Operation Healthy is in full swing, I made sure to make my evening snack a healthy one!
Thanks to Lindsay, selecting a healthy sweet treat was easy! I received a box full of Glo Bars and Barney Butter packets from Lindsay in the mail today and happily selected an Endure Glo Bar to try.
I’ve seen these bars all over Angela’s blog and was so happy when Lindsay reached out to me to send me some to try for myself.
The Endure bar was chewy and chock-full of cranberries. I can’t wait to enjoy another one of these babies for breakfast tomorrow. Thanks again, Lindsay!
I’m hoping to make it an early night tonight so I’ll see you crazy kids in the mornin’.
Sleep well!

Those brussel sprouts look SO good!
Then again, all your food looks good! (Ok, maybe not the Liverwurst, but everything else)

I hope your invitations turn out! Though I am sure they will, as you guys did such a great job on your save-the-date cards.
Dinner looks yummy. Also, I LOVE Glo Bars. I bought a box when Angela had her ‘glo canada’ sale about a month and a half ago and feel head-over-heels for them. I just wish a store near me sold them so I didn’t have to wait for them to ship across the country.

Julie, I may have some wedding questions for you…if you don’t mind! You seem to totally have it all together- like with the planning.
Did you use a guideline- like those in the magazines- @ 12 months, do this; @ 10 months, do this..etc etc. ???
Holly at Greek Yogurt and Apple Slices
lord, no. i have done everything by the seat of my pants! we booked our location, florist & photographer first (prob. 10 mos. out?), then the dj & pastor & other little things… it’s a process, but a FUN one. i feel like things are REALLY starting to pick up now that we’re a little over 2 mos. out. definitely email me anytime about the whole shebang!

THANK YOu!! I’ll definitely have to take ya up on that offer

first of all you have awesome handwriting
second, don’t worry about the invitations…most people are just going to be so excited to be invited that they won’t even notice if it looks a little homemade
Heather
that’s my thought on the whole thing… i’ve been to a handful of weddings & i only remember what one of the invitations looked like (probably b/c the girl was a graphic designer & they were really neat!).

regarding Operation Healthy- isn’t it amazing how food can make you feel? I remmeber one night I had way too many brownies, and I’m not used to having alot of sugar. felt SO SICK the next morning/day. No appetite, nauseous, blahhh. From that point on, if soemthing is very rich or sugary, no matter how good it tastes, I try not to OVER indulge. Not worth feeling drained and sick the next day!
lisa
100% agree!

How were the Glo Bars??! They look and sound amazing!!

Just a tip . . . you’ll be sending out LOTS of Thank You cards too which generally match the invitation theme . . .something to keep in mind when buying card stock and making sure it all matches.
Although they don’t HAVE to match of course, ours didn’t but I know a lot of people whose did. Our wedding invitations were a gift from my family but we made our wedding programs . . . lots of work so I know how it feels!
trailmomma
I love brussel sprouts! I made them for dinner also..next time put some grated parm or romano on top in the oven. TO DIE FORRR!

In the end, it only matters what you two think of the invitations! As soon as you’re happy with them, it’s all good!
Amber K
I think we have an equal love of Brussels, and that makes me happy. No one gets my brussel sprout love.

I’m loving those sloppy joes…yummmy! And, your handwritng is beautiful
Lynn
To easily address the invitations, I recommend using Avery labels (or any other brand). It’s super easy to create a database of addresses and then merge that onto the label template and just print. Unless you have perfect handwriting or want to hire a calligrapher (which I’m sure you don’t!) it’s the prettiest way to do it in my opinion. And it would make them look very professional.
Candice
yes! those are great! we used those for our save the dates & they were wonderful!

You have such nice handwriting! Barney Butter is amazing!!! I cannot get enough of that stuff!
