Last night I spent a good 30 minutes on Pinterest. I initially went on the site to help my sister find some pictures for a slideshow she’s putting together for work, but as any of my fellow pinners out there know, you can’t spend less than five minutes on the site.
Before I knew it, I was pinning away and lusting after this necklace…
(Yes, I totally added that hyperlink to make it easy for one special and handsome husband to find.)
I also fell in love with these boots…
(At just under $500 dollars, they are a steal! Hyperlink added for the benefit of you ballin’ ladies out there… AKA not me.)
And then I laughed at this little cartoon and emailed it to Ryan because who doesn’t love a little dino love?
One thing I did not expect to find on Pinterest? Workout ideas!
Once I stumbled upon a neat workout idea on the site, I started searching for more and felt inspired to try one of the workouts I pinned at the gym this morning.
Workout
Today’s workout began with the upper body workout I found on Pinterest which comes from the Tone it Up site:
(Source)
Cool huh?
It was a super fast workout, but the combination of the push ups and the back-to-back planks got me sweating right off the bat. Phew!
Since I finished the pyramid workout pretty quickly, I added some more strength training exercises to my workout and completed three sets of the 15 repetitions of the following exercises:
- Tricep pulldowns
- Bicep curls
- Ryan’s awesome shoulder move
- Leg extensions
- Bridges (2 min. non-stop total)
- Hamstring curls
- One-legged leg extensions
- Crunches on exercise ball
I rounded out my workout with 20 minutes on the elliptical.
Now it’s 2 p.m. and I still haven’t had lunch. I’ve been snacking through the morning (pretzel crisps and peanut butter, why are you so addicting?) and I haven’t felt hungry until just now. Off to fix myself a plate!
Question of the Afternoon
- Have you ever found workout inspiration from an unexpected source?
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
I still haven’t checked out Pinterest mainly because I know how much time I’ll spend on it!!
Looks like a great place for inspiration though! 🙂
I love finding workout ideas on Body Rock 🙂
Kelsey says
I am so obsessed with BodyRock. The workouts go by really fast and always make me sore!
Jess says
I looooove that necklace!! Thanks for the link!
Rosa - Fitness, Food, Fulfilled says
I get workout ideas sometimes from watching reality TV, weird as that is. It was how I first got started with yoga and pilates. Of course, I didn’t have the fancy reformers and stuff they used, but who needs them anyway?
marci says
Do you have the Hunter or Huntress (hunter boots) in tall?
peanutbutterfingers says
yep! in the green color. i love them!
Amy @ ElephantEats says
OMG, I’m seriously addicted to Pinterest. I’ve been doing it at work too (bad Amy!). There’s just so many categories, it’s impossible to stop. The inventor of these site is a serious genius.
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says
Haha healthy living blogs give me inspiration, and when I first discovered them it was definitely unexpected!
Who knew reading people’s online diaries would get me to want to work out and try to start running? 😉
Jillian @ sprinkle massacre says
I would notice this…because I’m weird like that, but your link to “bridges” is this same date but last year. 8/25/10.. lol
peanutbutterfingers says
oh how crazy!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
Part of me wants to start exploring Pintrest, another part of me knows it won’t be good for my productivity…
Taylor @ Crumbs Don't Count says
Ugh..planks kill me! I wish I could do “I dream of Jeannie” blink my eyes and have abs of steel. Might draw weird stares from other people at the gym! 🙂
Shanna, Like Banana says
LUSTING after the boots…I told myself that I’d buy myself a nice pair of Fall boots as a preggers gift (aside from the push present)…can I rationalize $500? Hmm..trying to!
peanutbutterfingers says
i know. they are so gorgeous! and that color goes with everything!
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
Yes. “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” (the song) with my 3 year old. Also, twister.
Anna @ Food Fitness and Frolicking says
Those boots are BEAUTIFUL. Ahh I wish I had $500 to spend on shoes, haha.
Before getting into healthy living blogs I always found tons of workout ideas through stumbleupon.com. Have you ever used that website? If so, what’s better? Pinterest or stumbleupon?
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
I was JUST drafting a Pinterest post! Pinterest is so awesome for ev-ery-thing.
sara @ the foodie diaries says

Oh my goodness! I just laughed out loud at my desk when I saw that dinosaur drawing. SO cute, reminds me of this book they have at Urban Outfitters that I look at every time I go there…”All My Friends are Dead,” complete with a sad sad little dino on the front cover. Sad and hilarious all rolled into one lovely package.
I also love the necklace and boots. Big time!!! Bookmarking both! And checking out the Tone It Up girls, too…I’ve been hearing a lot about them lately.
peanutbutterfingers says
