This afternoon I had a fun little surprise. My parents stopped by for lunch!
They were in Jacksonville for my dad’s work and we met up for lunch on their drive back to St. Pete.
It was my mom’s first time seeing our place, so I made sure to tidy up our living room. I replaced the comfy blanket we keep on our couch to protect it from Sadie’s nails with our decorative pillows.
You can tell by her face that she totally knew something was up. Either that or she had a fart brewin’, which is just as likely.

I think this is the first time I’ve shown you guys pictures of our family room, huh? It’s not done and there are still things I want to change, but I hope you enjoyed the sneak peak!
Lunch
My mom and dad arrived close to noon and I gave them a tour of the house before we headed out to meet up with Ryan at Tommy’s BBQ.
Ryan has been to Tommy’s a handful of times with his coworkers and said it was the kind of place my family and I would love.
Tommy’s is a no frills, down home cookin’ kind of place!
I ordered the smoked chicken with fruit salad and corn bread.
(I forgot my camera at home, so I apologize for the grainy phone pictures.)
My mom’s country egg rolls stole the show! I wish I would’ve snapped a picture. They were typical egg rolls on the outside but the inside was filled with delicious pulled pork and some other things I couldn’t pick out but loved.
I wish we all could’ve sat around talking for longer, but everyone had to get going, so we said our goodbyes after lunch and I headed home to get back to business.
Better get to that!

Love your family room! I like the lighter beige and white with the green – it really lightens up the room. Green is my favorite color too, so that makes me love it even more.

Love the pillows. Reminds me that I need to wash the dog blanket and put the seats down in my car. We are trying to get the dogs ready for a 5-6 hour car ride.

I always clean like a crazy person when my mom comes to visit, but then she gets there and just cleans everything all over again (even when it’s so clean), it drives me CRAZY!
We have two bigs dogs and leather couches and we’ve never had an issue with them scratching the leather, do you have super expensive soft leather couches? Ours are nothing special but sure seem to be durable, my Malamute has pretty much taken over the loveseat LOL.

no they’re basic leather. she doesn’t scratch them for the most part, but one time when my sister was visiting, she got really excited and took off after her and one of her nails left quite the scratch so now we’re just super careful.

The family room looks awesome! The couch in my family room is completely scratched up from my dog jumping on it and the top cushions are caving in because his favorite place to sit is on top of the couch. It drives me crazy!

Whenever I visited my grandparents in West Palm Beach we went to Sonny’s…best.bbq.ever. The portions are huge but absolutely awesome haha. Go if you haven’t yet!

family friend of ours… I’ll have to show you where the healthy spots are! They’re slim pickin’, but it’s getting better around here, trust me!! And if you want the best coffee aorund (yes, better than Starbucks!) come to Greater american Coffee Roasters..it’s off magnolia ext. like your going downtown ocala. It’s amazing! We hold a coffee shop hang out thing for young adults every Fri night at 6pm there and then usually go to dinner
