Help Make a Christmas Wish Come True
This morning I received an email from Nikki, a nursing student from West Virginia, with information about a child’s Christmas wish that I though we might be able to help come true on some small level.
According to Nikki, Max, an 8-year-old boy battling leukemia, will not make it home to celebrate Christmas and has one crazy, fun Christmas wish:
He would like to receive 1,000,000 Christmas cards in the mail.
If you would like to send him a card and help make his Christmas wish come true, cards may be sent to:
Max c/o Hailey Remish
417 Jones Street
Belle Vernon, PA
15012
Thank you so much and Happy Holidays!!
P.S. A BIG thank you to those of you who have already commented on my morning Facebook post about this and passed along Max’s address to your friends and family. You are wonderful!

Such a cute Christmas Wish! I’m getting my card tonight to send tomorrow. I bet 1,000,000 isn’t that hard of a goal to reach now that its in the hands of the blogging community!

Hi!
My family sent Max cards, as well as all of the students at Chartiers Valley Primary School! If all teachers participated, that is 800 cards from his school alone! I hope that he reaches his goal. Merry Christmas!

Blogging about it and sending my card out today.
Also my friend Darcy called the hospital and did verify that Max is there and this is in no way spam! Please help Max’s wish come true.
There is an alternate address to use too for the hospital directly:
Ruby Memorial Hospital
Attn: WVU Children’s Hospital/Max

how can you find this out? Information on a child or any information on patients isn’t releaseable, that would be in violation of HIPAA laws. I want to believe this is true but have many doubts.

hi jen. i just called the hospital myself. the man on the phone that i spoke with said he cannot say that max is there, but he said that he can tell me that “a lot of stuff has been arriving for max and nothing is being turned away and everything is very much appreciated.” he said no one is complaining about spam cards. i truly believe it is legitimate.

I was going to just put the address here but when I went to copy it I noticed that they only accepted cards up until December 9! I’m bummed too – I was planning on sending one. Maybe there’s another organization that will still take them.

Are you sure this is legitimate? I would hate for a bunch of people to get scammed- I read that it’s common for people to include gift cards/money in drives like these. There was another Max asking for 1,000,000 cards in his last few days alive earlier this year from another state. And quite a few other similar posts on the net, all with different addresses and names. It may have started with this legitimate (although outdated) email for someone else: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/elfrink.asp

Hi Julie,
What a thoughtful Christmas wish! I look at your blog every morning before I start my day, I’m currently in AFG and look forward to looking at a normal person’s daily activities. You could also call the hospital to check if you want to be 100 percent sure as well!

I too called the hospital to find out if this was true. (snopes had a similar story-different child’s name). The woman said she could not confirm if the story was true however any cards sent should not go to the hospital (there was no “Max” there but wouldnt confirm if there may of been) but to the church below.
Saint Luke church
19 Joe Glenn drive
Morgantown WV 26508
I would like to believe it is true but seeing as to how close the plea is to the spam from years before I find it doubtful.
Nonetheless I thought I would include the correct address.
