Man Down
Man down, man down!
Guess who had quite the bike accident yesterday?
Ryan and I took my parent’s’ bikes on a long bike ride in the late afternoon yesterday.
On our way home, we saw my sister out walking Sadie. Ryan got the idea to sneak up and scare her and I did too… only we didn’t communicate our ideas and after we both scared her (going at approximately 14 miles per hour on the bikes) Ryan veered out and I veered in and we completely collided.
I honestly don’t remember the crash and just remember being unable to catch my breath and lying on my back on the pavement. Ryan and my sister were looking at me asking if I was okay and helping me try to move. (Ryan was okay, thank goodness, and didn’t seem to have nearly as bad of a fall that I did.)
I was bleeding pretty badly from my knee and elbow and my ankle started swelling almost immediately. It was pretty intense!
Fortunately the crash occurred right outside my parents house, so I was able to walk inside and immediately sit down.
My mom is a nurse and disinfected my cuts and scrapes and bandaged me up.
Just take this incident as another reminder to wear a helmet and communicate with fellow riders, especially when you’re trying to scare the bejesus out of someone as a prank. Oops.
I feel okay today – just a little banged up – and my scrapes are healing and my bruises are poppin’. I look quite colorful!
But let’s back up and bit and recap the fun parts of yesterday!
Ryan and I met up with his dad for breakfast and some beach time.
I ordered a garden omelet and a side of fresh fruit and ate three of the mini complimentary butter biscuits. Delicious!
It was beautiful outside and we saw a sting ray and dolphins in the water. The water was too cold to swim, but it was beautiful!
On our way back to St. Pete, we swung by SweetBerries for frozen custard.
Medium butterscotch, please!
The custard is so thick that you can turn it upside down and it won’t fall out.
Once we arrived back in St. Pete we hung out with my family and ate a late lunch.
I had a turkey sandwich with animal crackers, Nutella and a small piece of fudge.
Dinner was fit for Thanksgiving!
Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and my mom’s homemade stuffing.
I went back for thirds of everything. Comfort food at its finest.
And now it’s Christmas Eve!!! Today will be full of lots of family time, church, a special seafood feast, our Christmas Eve boat ride and cookie baking.
Off to hang out with the fam. I hope you’re able to enjoy this special time with your loved ones.

I have a suppppper random question, do you count calories? Or do you just try to eat healthy and workout? I only ask because I’ve recently gotten into counting calories and I feel like it’s unhealthy for me because I just become obsessive…

Oh sad–I am sorry about your bike accident! I had a BAD one in 2009 –a little kid came careening down the canyon on his bike and ran head on into me on my bike-going uphill. Let’s just say I had a HUGE black eye and a lot of bruises. I hope you heal quickly!!
Merry Christmas to you

Oh man, the same thing happened to my friend and I when we were waterskiing! We were both on opposite sides of the wake, decided to come back to the middle, weren’t looking, and totally collided with each other. We were both pretty bruised up, but the accident would have been worse if it happened on pavement….
We laugh about it now, so at least you got a funny story out of the whole thing
Merry Christmas Julie!

Definitely a good reminder to always wear a helmet! I see people riding around town all the time without helmets and it makes me nervous for them. Glad you’re okay though and that’s good that it happened right in front of your parent’s house. I didn’t know your mom was a nurse. I think nurses don’t get nearly enough credit for everything they do.
Merry Christmas Eve. Have a great weekend Julie
