Aspaeris Pivot Compression Shorts Giveaway

After I blogged about the soreness I experienced following the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, a wonderful woman (and amazing athlete!) who works with my dad and reads my blog reached out to me about the benefits of compression clothing.

She swore by compression gear as a means to increase oxygen blood flow to the muscles, helping them to recover faster.

After wearing compression sleeves over my calves following the Women’s Half Marathon later that month, I was a believer. I wasn’t sore and loved the snug fit of the sleeves.

I knew then that I wanted to try out compression shorts since my hamstrings and quads are often sore after long runs.

Thanks to the kind people at Aspaeris, I was able to try out the Aspaeris Pivot compression shorts and my belief in the benefits of compression clothing was further solidified.

The Aspaeris compression shorts are tight and thick, but comfortable. They don’t dig into my skin. They are snug, but don’t make me feel strangled.

According to Aspaeris, the shorts “offer a unique two-layer design. The top layer supports your muscles while the bottom layer guides you into position. Breakthrough, patent-pending compression bands are cross-knit into the fabric that creates muscle memory to help prevent ACL injury and improve your performance.”

Snug as a bug in a rug. Smile

The shorts come in a variety of colors including black, white, red and navy blue.

And now YOU have a chance to win a pair of Aspaeris Pivot compression shorts!

I started training for my first half-marathon about 6 weeks ago, and am so excited to be up to about 7 miles in a stretch at this point :) The run takes place in Philadelphia in May, I’m doing it with a good friend of mine, and we’re loving the training/prep/new knowledge about running, healthy living, and the gear/tools that make it all easier. I haven’t tried any compression clothing yet, so this would be a neat new experience. Thanks, love your blog!!

The second marathon I ran, I wanted to do it for something bigger than myself so I ran for BEDA (binge eating disorder association) because I was inspired by clients suffering @ the medical nutrition therapy practice I work for: http://www.rbitzer.com. check :) (i raised over $800 and qualified for the boston maraton)!
My goal now is to give my body a much needed rest (no marathons for this year) and help people in my life train for half marathons while taking yoga…That is until the 2013 Boston Marathon :) …It’s about balance!

  172. Two years ago, I became a group fitness instructor. I was certified to teach a class that I’ve loved FOREVER called “Turbo Kick”. I had thought about becoming an instructor for a few years, but never had the guts.

Now, just a few short years later, I teach Turbo Kick, Boot Camp, Weight Lifting and Hip Hop Hustle at my local YMCA. I’m also planning to get certified in Zumba and Body Pump.

Sure, I’ve been doing these classes forever and didn’t have to push myself that hard physically to achieve this goal. It was more of a mental thing. Building up the confidence to lead a class and help a group of individuals reach their health and fitness goals took a lot of courage…but it’s also been incredibly rewarding!

I don’t swim as much as I used to, but I’ll never forget those extremely proud moments I had in high school.

That being said, knowing that I’m signed up for the race has kept me in ok shape since starting traveling in January. Hopefully it wont be too painful getting back into it! (But the fact that these compression shorts might aid in that recovery is what’s gotten me to comment for the first time since reading your blog for almost a year!)

  361. My biggest athletic achievement thus far is completing my first half marathon, hands down. As my husband left my two toddlers and I for a 7 month deployment, I told him I was going to “become a runner” while he was gone. He laughed and wished me good luck. My first run (less than a mile, ha!) was rough, but crossing the finish line 3 months later after 13.1 miles was worth it. I have since completed another half, a 10k and a 14k, but I doubt anything will ever compare to the first!

  384. First off – let me admit that I have been following and enjoying your blog for a few weeks now. So glad I found it. I have had fun reading through your back posts – your wedding – your first half marathon ………. I am stoked to try some of your smoothie recipes once it warms up.

As far as athletic achievement – I never did anything remotely athletic before the age of 40 (Unless you can count walking quickly to good sales in the Mall or talking non-stop with friends) After I turned the big 40 I suddenly realized that the weight had crept up on me (I could not longer blame it on baby weight at the youngest of my three was like seven years old LOL) and I wasn’t feeling so good.

And so began a complete transformation of my lifestyle (much to my husband’s astonishment – as he said he would have never guessed in a million years I would suddenly be interested in becoming sweaty on purpose) I changed up my eating habits and my family’s eating habits. And I started to walk followed by running from one mailbox to the next one (mailboxes are close together in my neighborhood) Before I knew it, I had run a 5K and decided to run a half marathon.

I will be celebrating my 44th birthday next month – I have now completed five half marathons (PB was 2:01 – still working on that sub 2 I see that you achieved – Congrats!), three 10 mile races, 2 10K races, and a few 5K races.

So I guess you are never too old to start!!! :-)

I remember going to the gym the first day, and “running” on the treadmill. Back then, I could only alternate jogging 30 seconds and walking 2 minutes. I’m now up to a consistent 10 mile run, and my first half marathon is in late March. Great giveaway!

I also plan to try out a variety of different types of exercising outside of my comfort zone to try and increase my muscle strength and endurance!

  591. After swearing off skiing for the last 15 years because of a horrible first experience (when I was 16 years old), my husband coaxed me into trying it last year. I only had two ski days last season because I started so late, but this season we’ve been going as much as possible. Today I skied all intermediate terrain, a goal I NEVER thought I’d reach when I started up again last season. I have a way of being so critical about my body despite the fact that it allows me to do so much. It’s time to start thanking her!

Also…my husband and I mountain climb, and every time I reach a summit I am so grateful. So I guess they’re both my most exciting achievements!

  783. My greatest athletic goal was getting back into competitive swimming. I was a swimmer in high school (but not in college) and found that I missed it. So I looked around Chicago and realized there were TONS of options for Masters Teams, and have been swimming ever since (5 years). Even though I love my normal gym classes, nothing gives me as good a workout as a hard swim set. I am proud to have kept up with it, even though jumping in a pool on a snowy winter night is tough to do, and even though the pool I swim at is very inconvenient to get to. It’s all worth it in the end!

  786. Gotta be hiking from Canada to Mexico with my now husband following the Continental Divide Trail. I use “following” rather loosely however, as we were lost most of the time.

But in all reality, my greatest athletic achievement is just continuing to workout. Every night that I can go to sleep feeling I’m a bit healthier is a reason to be proud.

And what they have in common is that every single little achievement is hugely important and they add up to big achievements.

  796. Before I tore my ACL, I ran distance. One year, I joined a Relay for Life team in order to raise money and awareness for Cancer research and treatment. The event had our team of 6 going for 24 hours around a track, switching off every 30 minutes. To give my sponsors a little extra incentive to give, I pledged to run each of my segments. For 24 hours, I got on that track every segment to run. I remember being woken up at 2 in the morning to switch off, putting shoes on my swollen feet, and it just being me, my blurry eyes, the stars, and the memorial candles. I’ve had to leave serious running behind for more tame sessions since my surgery, but I’ll never forget that day. And the next week, since I was quite sore for a while after that!

1030. I’m starting small. I am trying to build myself up to run a 5K. Seems small compared to others. I tend to give up for weeks at at time when I wake up so sore I can barely stand. I really think this might be something that would benefit me. I love my runners high and my sense of accomplishment when I’ve finished. I don’t love the soreness that tends to make me shy away from wanting to run.

1048. I am a young married girl, and I have just finished my first 5k! I have always been athletic, but never a runner until now. I’ve played team sports for years, but when I got married, I needed a way to exercise and stay in shape! I have learned to enjoy running(as much as one can!) and my goal is to run a 10k soon!

1066. I never ran marathon, but I enjoy walking 5 miles whenever I can. I try to take 5 group workout classes every week. For me, that’s great accomplishment. My daughter just told me about the compression shorts and would like to get her one, but I think it’s too expensive for now..

1067. I’m barely getting back on my feet -literally- after surgery to repair my ruptured Achilles. In an effort to get back to an active lifestyle I have taken up the sport of Disc Golf. It gives me an opportunity to get outdoors, breath fresh air all while walking beautiful trails and courses and slowly strengthening my Achilles, ankles, calves and legs. After 6 months of doing nothing and atrophy in my calf I have noticed this will be a long and low process.

I am sore after every match and have read rave reviews on compression gear and have been looking into getting some sleeves and shorts. If I win, this would be a great opportunity for me.

My athletic goals are to strengthen and condition my legs so I can eventually run in one of the several races my city hosts. Another goal is to strengthen my lower body so I am confident enough to deliver power when driving the discs when I play Disc Golf. I’d like to hit my first hole in one.
