At around noon today, I met up with my friend Sadie for lunch at Moe’s.
We both ordered chicken salads with tons of toppings before claiming a booth and settling in for an hour to talk about blogging.
I met Sadie a few weeks ago at my first Junior League meeting and thought she was so spunky and fun. She is also a blogger (she blogs about interior design and decorating at Nifty Thrifty Decorator) and asked me meet her for lunch to talk about my local freelance work and blogging.
We had a lot to talk about and I had a great time! I know I’ll be seeing her soon!
Fall Décor
After our lunch, I swung by TJMaxx to pick up a little somethin’ somethin’ for the birthday boy to give to him on Friday. While I was there, I almost bought these adorable doggie pajamas for Sadie to wear on Halloween.
I ended up leaving them behind because Halloween is often too hot in Florida for Sadie to wear such a warm outfit. She’ll just have to wait until December to bust out her Christmas pajamas.
I managed to keep my time in TJMaxx under control (that store tends to suck me in), but got a little sidetracked by all of the fall decorations and foodie treats. In the end, I left with two pumpkin-related finds.
Pumpkin spice coffee and a pumpkin brulee Yankee Candle. The candle smells like joy and happiness.
The other items looked a little too “Halloween-y” and I tend to gravitate toward generic autumn decorations since I like to keep all of our decorations up through Thanksgiving, so no fun signs or figurines were purchased.
Lunch and a side stop at TJMaxx made for a nice little two-hour break in my day. When I arrived back home, I parked my butt in front of my NASM textbook for some study time before typing up this blog post.
More studying to come!
October Book Club
With more than 63 percent of the vote, the winning book for the PBF October Book Club is…
We’ll be discussing the book on the blog on Monday, November 5. (Rumor has it that this book is going to be turned into a movie starring Selena Gomez. Stay tuned!)
Happy reading!

I do the same with Christmas decor! I stick to snowmen and snowflakes and skip anything Santa so I can keep them up until it gets warm out.
Amanda @ Eat More Rabbit Food
Haha TJMaxx can be a dark hole of money and time! I never carry a basket because it’s harder to pick up more things if I have to carry them in my hands!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats
Mmmm…Pumpkin spice coffee
Lauren @The Homeostatic Mindset
That chicken salad looks great!
Natalie @ Free Range Human
yayy so glad that book was picked since I just downloaded it this morning! I bought that coffee at Home Goods a few weeks ago and *think* it may be decaf, as a coffee addict it didn’t bode well with me, or maybe I just didn’t make it strong enough. Let me know your thoughts on it please!!
Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots
I’ve read that book, and it is quite the intriguing story! I hope you end up liking it as much as I did.
Nicolle
Happy early birthday to Ryan on Friday! My birthday is Saturday, guess October is a good birthday month
Courtney
That salad looks awesome! I totally need to get my booty to the library to pick up that book. Looks good!
Annette@FitnessPerks
seriously–the pumpkin shenanigans are OUT OF CONTROL! If I’m not eating something pumpkin I’m inhaling the scent of my pumpkin candles. good thing it’s not around all year round!
Danielle
Yay! I’m glad 13 reasons won. Seeing all your cute decorations is making me want to decorate my house! Maybe I’ll finally get around to it this year after 2 un-decorated falls.
Carol @ Lucky Zucca
Sounds like a great afternoon! I don’t get into the specific Halloween decor either… I love all the autumn/fall decorations to keep them up for as long as possible through Thanksgiving, like you said!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
just curious if you are not posting in the evenings anymore. i look a couple of times every night and don’t see one so i was just wondering!
ashley
This is a great book! My sisters and I read this on a road trip to NC Thanksgiving 3 years ago. I was actually just thinking a few days ago about suggesting that we read it again this year. It’s sad and eye-opening. I’ll hate it if the movie is bad. That always ruins a good book for me.
Rebekah
I always get my embarassing doggy clothes at TJ MAXX or Ross! Always the best finds. And pumpkin spice coffee? YUM!! Great finds
Kenzie
I am finishing up divergent, and hope to be done in time to participate in this month’s book club! This one sounds extra good!
Ashlee @ HisNHers
That candle would have sucked me in, too!
Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More
I think I actually bought the same coffee when I was at Home Goods awhile back. I actually don’t like it very much, but oh well it was worth trying!
I have plans to shop at Marshall’s/TJ Maxx after class today for my sister’s bachelorette. Hoping I don’t spend too much money on myself, I can definitely lose track of time/money when I shop there!
Meghan @ After the Ivy League
A Moe’s/Chipotle salad always hits the spot! Yumm
Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut
Can’t wait to read it! And I too get horribly sucked in at tj Maxx. Something about it gets me to spend way more than I expect every time.
Jenica
I want those jammies!
the 3volution of j3nn
I love Selena Gomez
I hope that rumor is true!
Alysha @Shesontherun
You should’ve totally splurged on the pumpkin jammies! Popcorn just got a pair of candy corn ones from TJ Maxx
He HATES them!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance
TJ Maxx and Marshalls sucks me in like no other. I go in to check and see if they have one little thing and I end up staring mindlessly at anything from exotic jams to hair products for an hour.
Kelly @foodiefresh
Pumpkin and spice candles are my faaavorite! They make everything feel and smell so homey and cozy…uhhh and hungry too! haha. I just saw Sadie’s blog and her content looks awesome!
Ellie@Fit for the Soul
Whenever I see pumpkin spice coffee, I want to buy it – it’s so bad! (not bad tasting…bad for the wallet!)
Megan@funsizedfitness
Hoping I have time this month to read the book!! Who am I kidding, I’ll make time
Emily
Oooh, I read this book and loved it!
alyssa
The doggie pajamas are awesome! I doubt my library will have the book, but I’ll check. Come on, library!
Lindsey @ Goldilocks and the 3 Bodies
I’ve picked up this book before and worried that it would be too much of a downer, but I’m still intrigued so maybe reading it with a group will be a good support and way to process.
Marilyn
I love TJ Maxx! I smelled all their pumpkin candles before picking out their pumpkin spice one. Nothing beats that!
Julie
I’ll definitely have to check out that book! I’m always looking for something new and different to read.
Pumpkin candles, pumpkin coffee, and TJ Maxx are some of my very favorite things!
natalie @ southern fit foodie
I typically wander around TJMaxx zoned out in my own little world. The one by my house if a TJMaxx and More, so it has a big Homegoods section, which I adore. I’m usually pretty good about spending though. I put things in my cart and then take them out later…I get too overwhelmed by all of the pretty things. Kind of like when I try to shop at Forever21.
Haley @ Housegirl Haley
Hahahah cutest costume! You could have got it and then just customised it and cut it shorter- Sadie would rock it
Bek @ Crave
My sister read that book and loved it!
Brittany Peters
Going to join in on the PBF Book Club this month! Just graduated college and no longer have to read a million books for school and am so happy I have time to read more for enjoyment!!
Hayley
Word on the street is that a cookies ‘n’ cream flavor of coffee exists…thought you’d share my excitement
!
Khushboo
I love checking out the fun home finds and kitchen finds at TJ Maxx! They always have such unique products. I don’t blame you for buying the candle and the coffee. I probably would have done the same thing
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope
That book is great! It’s one of my favorites! I also loooovvveeee pumpkin in the fall.
