Toilet Paper Pumpkin Craft Project

We’re going to breeze through lunch today because I have last night’s fun fall craft project to share with you guys this afternoon!

Festive!

Lunch

I spent the morning reading my NASM textbook and taking notes, so lunch popped up rather quickly and I threw together a salad similar to the one I ate last week with my new favorite yogurt-based Caesar dressing.

Plus two fun-sized pieces of Halloween candy for dessert!

Now for the fun stuff…

Pumpkin Toilet Paper Roll Craft

Who knew you could easily transform this…

Into this…

No sewing or hot glue gun skills required!

I saw this little craft project on Pinterest last week (where else?) and knew I had to make it. I loved that it was an inexpensive project that seemed relatively simple and fun.

While I first saw this craft on Organize and Decorate Everything (who saw it on The House Creative), it seems like pumpkin toilet paper rolls have been around for years and years, as I found them all over the internet when I Googled “pumpkin toilet paper roll” in search of additional pictures of the pumpkins for inspiration. Have you guys all seen this before and I’m just 300 years behind the times? There are a ton of cute versions out there, let me tell ya!

Though I completed this craft last night, it actually started on Saturday afternoon on our hike with Sadie when I gathered the three sticks that would serve as pumpkin stems!

After our hike, I headed to Hobby Lobby where I selected three different fabrics (approximately 22’’ x 18’’) and three different colors of raffia to use to tie around the pumpkin stems for a little extra flare.

Then it was assembly time!

First I placed a piece of Hobby Lobby’s thick tissue paper that I snagged from the checkout line on top of a piece of fabric. (You can use newspaper.)

Thank you to Sadie for standing guard over my roll.

Then I tightly tucked the tissue paper into the center of the roll…

Followed by the fabric.

And when I say I “tucked” the tissue paper and fabric into the center of the toilet paper roll, I should probably say I aggressively shoved it into the center. This wasn’t quite as easy as it looks, possibly because the fabric I chose was rather thick.

I then asked Ryan if he had a drill I could borrow to make a little hole for the stick I was supposed to put in the middle of the pumpkin to serve as my stem. No dice. Since I didn’t really have space for the stick, I used the handle of a spoon to shove the fabric as far down into the center of the toilet paper roll as I could manage.

Then I garnished my pumpkins with a stick and some raffia!

What a cool idea. Crafty I am NOT. But that looks so simply, I might be able to tackle that. You could even change the colors for the holidays.

Also LOVE the table you have them sitting on. The staining makes it look old. I love old.

I like this craft a lot because even though they’re pumpkins, they’re not Halloween pumpkins and could stay out through Thanksgiving!

  16. Cassie says:

I love that picture with Sadies paws in it! My husband and I have had our Vizsla named Fynn for a little over a month now, and he feels the need to sit on anything that is on the floor. I was trying to pin and sew curtain panels the other night and the only space I have to lay it out on is the floor, I spent more time wrestling with Fynn to make him more interested in laying somewhere other than right on top of my curtains!

  17. Ok this is officially the cutest thing I’ve ever seend. If you’re 300 years behind the times, I’m 301 years. I’ve never seen this!!

  18. How clever! I love this fabric you used!

That is such a cute idea! I love decorations… I’m just too lazy to do them for my own house. and then I complain about how cool everyone else’s houses look and mine is boring. But this is so easy, I could even do it!

  22. You are adorable. Is this the new answer to grandma’s knitted covers?

  23. I love this idea and it may be a popular craft but it is the first I have ever heard of it. I have to make a trip to Hobby Lobby this week so I may just give this a try!!

This looks so easy and affordable. As a college student there isn’t a lot available in my decorating fund. This would be manageable though!

  27. I’m not a crafty person at all, but this is too cute! PS. Have you tried the salmon burgers from Trader Joe’s? I put one on top of my salad today for lunch and it was so good and easy!

  28. So cute! I’ve never seen these either, so if you’re behind, so am I! I love any craft project that doesn’t require any crazy tools.

WHat a great idea! I especially love that it doesn’t require a hot glue gun. I don’t think I would even know what to do with myself with melted glue. :)
