We’ll be enjoying another weekend at home without too many commitments on our calendar. Can I get a heck yes!? Gosh I just love low key weekends so darn much. I’m hoping we will find some fun indoor activities to occupy our energetic little toddler because the weatherman has us believing it will be a cold weekend in Charlotte with a possible chance of snow on Sunday. Eek!
And on that chilly note, it’s time for your usual Things I’m Loving Friday shenanigans! See below for a short roundup of some things that are making me smile this week.
Have a fantastic weekend, my friends!
Thing I’m Loving Friday
- Chameleon Cold Brew
I’ve wanted to hop on board the cold brew coffee phenomenon for a while because I’m a sucker for good marketing and so many cold brew companies make their bottles look so darn appealing but when it comes to coffee, I like it H-O-T and flavored. I know you can heat up cold brew coffee but I haven’t seen many options for flavored cold brew coffee without added sugar so I was psyched when I stumbled upon Chameleon Organic Vanilla Cold Brew thanks to a smiling woman passing out free samples at the grocery store. One sip and I was sold and though I’m still sipping on hot coffee in the mornings, I’ve been using the cold brew to make mocha smoothies and will also occasionally drink a cup of iced cold brew with whole milk with and early lunch if I need an extra zip of energy.
- In Farleigh Field by Rhys Bowen
I finished In Farleigh Field last weekend and it was such a great read! I downloaded the book when I read a few reviews that said it was action-packed and a “Downton Abbey lover’s dream.” The book is set in England during World War II and centers around the death of a mysterious man who fell to his death on Lord Westerham’s estate when his parachute failed. His uniform raises suspicions and family friend and MI5 operative Ben Cresswell is secretly tasked with determining if the man is a German spy. This allows Ben to work closely with his (unrequited) childhood love, the bright Pamela Westerman, one of Lord Westerham’s five daughters, who happens to be in love with Ben’s best friend. The story definitely reminded me of Downton Abbey, filled with family drama and a healthy dose of intriguing plotlines. It was a great read and I highly recommend it, especially if you love historical fiction like I do!
I’m sharing this podcast here for the food bloggers out there! I feel like my time is so limited when it comes to keeping up with the latest and greatest trends in blogging and social media and I’ve found myself turning to the Chopped Podcast for little nuggets of information since I can listen and multitask! Since I’m relatively new to the podcast and there are 100 episodes out there already, I just pick and choose based on topics that interest me and listen while I’m walking Sadie or cooking in the kitchen. I almost always take something valuable away from every episode and it’s a great resource for me as a blogger and also makes me feel less alone in some of my blog-related challenges. Definitely worth a listen if you are a food blogger!
- Frozen Cauliflower in Smoothies
Yup, you read that right! I’ve been incorporating frozen cauliflower into my smoothies for a few weeks now after I saw my friend Danielle do it in an Instagram Stories pic. Even though the above picture doesn’t do much to make it look appealing (spinach is to blame for the putrid color), you guys have to try it out! It’s basically the new spinach in smoothies… An extra boost of veggies without altering the taste of your smoothie at all. If anything, I think cauliflower in smoothies makes them even creamier. Stay tuned for a smoothie bowl recipe with frozen cauliflower on the blog soon!
