It’s Friday!!! Hooray! I hope you all have something fun on the agenda for the weekend, whether it be a whole lot of nothing (<—that seriously sounds fabulous to me) or a jam-packed weekend full of exciting adventures!
Ryan and I don’t have any big plans on our calendar until the end of April so I’m hoping the next few weekends will be a bit relaxing around here. Watching a movie on the couch (or, let’s be real, a random Netflix documentary or Dateline) sounds like the perfect Friday night to me at the moment.
Now let’s get to the real reason you’re probably stopping by the blog today… It’s Things I’m Loving Friday tiiiime! Below you will find a short list of some things I’m lovin’ this week and, as always, I’d love for you to join in the fun and share a little bit about something that is making you smile in the comments section, too!
Whatever the upcoming weekend holds for you, I hope it’s a good one!
Things I’m Loving Friday
- Spring Sneakers from Zappos
Earlier this week the Fagan family got some new sneakers just in time for spring! I’m collaborating with Zappos for some upcoming posts and since I’ve been a longtime fan of the site, I had no trouble quickly picking out sneakers for every member of our little family (with the exception of Sadie because we tried to put doggie boots on her once to protect her feet and she shot us down HARD).
For some reason I gravitate toward ordering shoes off Zappos most frequently (like my slip-on Converse Chuck Taylors) and selected comfy pairs of sneakers for myself, Ryan and Chase. Ryan and I share a love for Nike Flyknit Free Run sneakers (I have them in two colors and they’re my absolute favorite gym shoe at the moment) and since his current pair is dying a slow death from overuse, I ordered him a snazzy new blue pair of the sneakers. Instant hit! (Now that I’m thinking about it, I should’ve saved these for a fun and colorful Easter basket surprise… Oh well. Candy is cool, too!)
I’m not going to lie when I say I was 100 percent convinced to order myself a pair of Nike Lunar Skyluxe sneakers because of the gorgeous plum fog color. It was love at first sight with these babies!
I’ve noticed the sneaker trend veer away from neon everything (a trend I was totally obsessed with for years) and though my eye still gravitates toward lots of color, I am really diggin’ softer hues and loooove the color and fit of these comfy kicks. The sole is thicker and more cushioned than my beloved Flyknits, so I’m looking forward to wearing these for interval running and incline walking workouts (and just to run around town because they’re so darn cute).
For Chase, I could not resist ordering the cutest pair of tiny TOMS since he’s been loving the other pair of TOMS I bought for him when he was just a tiny little peanut in my belly! (They were my very first pregnancy purchase and he can now finally fit in them!)
Chase has been really into shoes lately (if he’s running around barefoot and sees his shoes lying around, he will instantly bring them to me to help him put on) and when I was unpacking his new sneakers, he was so amped up after one shoe went on his foot that he started running around the house before I could put the other one on. Clearly the new shoes are a win!
Thank you so much to Zappos for our new springtime shoes. We are lovin’ them!
Did any of you guys see The Fitness Marshall’s video to Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too” that basically exploded all over the internet a while ago? I may have missed the boat when it was initially released last year but all of the sudden it was everywhere on my Facebook feed a couple of weeks ago and the energy and enthusiasm in this video is absolutely contagious. The Fitness Marshall is SO charismatic and I love the way the choreography is easy enough to follow for people who are typically rather uncoordinated when it comes to dance (ME). If you’re looking for a seriously fun way to work up a sweat and shake your booty, definitely check out The Fitness Marshall’s YouTube channel! (I’ve seen Gina mention this channel on her blog for ages and am kicking myself for never checking it out until now!)
- Crazy-Tongued Sadie
Sadie is a hard little creature to capture in photographs because she seems to have a camera aversion and will often look away from my DSLR camera whenever I pull it out to snap her picture. I can usually get around this with the “burst mode” on my iPhone but love the pictures I capture of her with my real camera so much more. Earlier this week, I was photographing a recipe in my office during Chase’s naptime and Sadie was in the middle of everything, as always. I turned the camera on her and managed to get this picture of her in all her smiley glory! She’s such a happy dog and I love the way this photo seems to capture both her energy and her joy!
- Library Board Books for Car Ride Amusement
I’m such a huge fan of our local libraries (we frequent three of them!) and have recently started checking out an assortment of board books to keep in the car whenever we drop in for story time. Having a variety of new (free!) books for Chase to look at whenever we’re on the road really seems to help cut down on car ride fussiness and I love hearing him babble away has he flips through the pages and points out pictures and animals he recognizes. Board books are perfect because I don’t worry at all about him tearing the crinkly covers or ripping pages!
- Hip Hop BBQ Pandora Station
The Hip Hop BBQ station on Pandora has quickly topped my list of Best Pandora Workout Music Stations, especially for strength workouts. It’s wonderful for throwback hip hop music that instantly leaves me feeling energized and ready to push myself and grab heavier weights. It’s definitely worth a try if you find yourself gravitating toward hip hop music in your workouts!
