Damp Run

March 12, 2013 by Julie 27 Comments

I postponed my usual morning work out and didn’t sneak in exercise until lunchtime. The weather is rather dreary in Ocala today which isn’t a bad thing when it comes to mid-day running. No sun = Cooler temps!

On Sunday, temperatures were in the 80s and I’m really hoping winter isn’t gone for good in Florida. I’m not ready for hot, hot, hot just yet.

Sadie was pretty psyched when we arrived at the local trails for a run around noon.

(Picture taken once we were parked, don’t worry!)

The two of us ended up covering five damp miles together. I ended up rather dirty at the end of our run thanks to Sadie’s desire to jump up and give me enthusiastic kisses at the end of our run. Dirty paws!

Once we arrived home, I quickly showered and got to work in the kitchen assembling a tasty lunch!

Lunch

I reheated leftover whole wheat pasta that I topped with marinara and parmesan cheese.

Plus some vibrant roasted broccoli that I ended up stirring into my pasta bowl.

Yum!

I ran this morning and it was “spitting” on me while I was running. It was also dark, so I didn’t get to see the puddles as much as I’d like so I got cold and wet toesies 🙁 Glad I did it, though!

I wish my dog Buddy would run with me, but his doggie ADHD gets the best of him. Props to Sadie 🙂

We have some pretty bad weather happening over here too! Pouring rain is not always the most fun to be around in.
Yum the pasta looks good. I love eating my broccoli in the marinara sauce, for some reason it tastes well together.

Send some heat my way! I can’t wait for it to be warm enough in the mornings to run in shirts and a tank top! Obviously I’m not from Florida 😉 I always feel like I can’t get warm after a damp run! I don’t know why but it makes me cold the entire day!

I love how dogs have no sense sometimes of how unclean their paws may be when all they want to do us jump all over you as they are so excited. The more you try and stop them sometimes the more exited they get 🙂

It is pouring here tonight so no outside runs for me. I hit the stairmaster instead.

I love that you have two different kinds of pasta in your bowl, that’s so something I would do! I like the different textures!

Ohh, that parmesan pile is dreamy!

It’s 80* in Sacramento today! I’m hoping we get a few weeks (or months!) of 70-80 degree weather before the crazy hot temps hit!

Noodles with marinara sauce and parm cheese is actually my favorite “pasta” dish. When I was younger, the only way I’d eat spaghetti is with butter and parm… no veggies, no meatballs… just straight up noodles and cheese. These days I can handle some tomato sauce, but I like to keep things pretty simple overall 🙂

80 degree weather?!? Wow, I am extremely jealous as I look outside my window at piles of snow! 🙁

I love the looks of your lunch. So simple, yet so delicious. I do not know why I don’t think to eat pasta with sauce for meals more often. Thanks for the reminder! 😉

Man oh man, that dinner is delicious. I’m weird this way, but I think rotini pasta tastes better than macaroni noodles or spaghetti noodles. Probably because the sauce gets stuck in the ridges and mmmmm 🙂

Glad to know I am not the only one who isn’t dying for the full on heat of summer! It’s amazing how much more difficult it is for me to run when it’s hot and humid!

It’s getting kinda warm in Alabama right now which…is ehhhh. I like 60s-70s….with blue skies and slight breezes. So not ready for the southern heat.
I love the pic of you and Sadie! I LOL’d when I tried picturing you taking that while driving…glad you didn’t though!
