Anniversary Dinner

February 1, 2010 by Julie 17 Comments

They say if it rains on your wedding day, it’s a sign of good luck. Does that apply to anniversaries, too?

I’m hoping that since our anniversary has been cold and rainy, our wedding day will be sunny and beautiful!

Despite the icky weather, Ryan and I had a wonderful time celebrating our six year anniversary.

Happy Anniversary!

Anniversary Roses from Ryan

After work we took Sadie on a 20 minute walk in the rain before piling into Ryan’s SUV to head to The Cheesecake Factory to relive our very first date.

We were seated quickly and took some time perusing the novel that is Cheesecake Factory’s menu. If there’s a restaurant with more menu items, I’d like to know about it because Cheesecake Factory’s menu is quite extensive.

After placing our orders we enjoyed the freshly baked bread from the bread basket. I had a piece of the wheat and a piece of the sour dough – both delish!

Ryan ordered the lentil soup as an appetizer and shared several yummy bites with me. It was hearty!

Lentil Soup

For dinner I dug into the French Country salad, full of candied pecans at goat cheese, while Ryan ordered the tomato basil penne pasta with chicken. Both were tasty!

I intentionally kept my dinner light to save room for this bad boy:

Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake

This cheesecake was so delicious. The whipped cream and red velvet cake parts were my favorite.

Every time we go to The Cheesecake Factory I always tell Ryan I want to pay to stick my head under the whipped cream machine. How delicious would that be!?

Opting Out of Gym Class

I read an article today in the Orlando Sentinel that was pretty disheartening. Apparently Florida legislature has added an opt-out clause to a previous physical education requirement that mandated students to have at least 150 minutes of exercise every week in school. The opt-out clause allows students to elect not to take gym class if a parent or guardian signs a waiver.

In a time where obesity is rising continually, how can this be an option? I understand some students cannot/should not take physical education due to various medical reasons, but when 15,000 Central Florida students elected to opt-out, something is not right. I don’t think 2.5 hours of exercise during school is a bad thing, especially when this is increasingly becoming the only exercise many students are getting every day. Just had to get that off my chest!

Did you like gym class?

I always liked gym class. I thought it was fun to learn new sports and have “play time” in the middle of the day.

Happy Anniversary! You two are such a cute couple!
I didn’t LOVE gym, but I didn’t hate it. I just didn’t like it in the morning, b/c we didn’t have time to shower :(. I think allowing students to opt out is awful

Glad you had a great anniversary!
Can’t believe about the opting out option either. When I was a kid, I had 7+ hours a week of PE and I loved every minute of it. We played a lot of sports and it taught us how to work as a team, how to stay focused and disciplined and I think every child would benefit from it. How disappointing, I can already see teenagers opting out. Is there a petition I can sign somewhere to reverse this? 🙁

I never liked gym class, but I was the chubby one who needed it! There was a PE class requirement for graduation and it was tough! Now that I’m more into working out I really think PE needs to stay in school.

happy anniversery to you and Ryan 🙂 beautiful roses

I like PE class, but I didnt like how you had to completely change for it, I think most of the things you could keep your school clothes on!

I didn’t like PE when I was younger. Can you believe that? Maybe that’s why I workout so much now to make up for it LOL!

I’m glad you had a great anniversary 🙂 Just think, soon you’ll have anniversaries as a married couple!

I think kids should have an option whether to take the gym class given to them during regular school hours OR have them complete set hours during one week @ their own local gym OR the schools gym. Seeing that a lot of people are embarassed of their bodies, or whether it’s because they’d like to have time to shower, or they like basic cardio machines better than actual games. Either way I see it both ways kids are being active and burning calories. I guess it really doesn’t matter how they do it but just that it gets done.

Disgusting! I agree with you…and enjoyed gym class and always wanted more of it! I was NOT good at the team sports, but it was kind of fun to be terrible and cause laughter! 🙂 it was all in good fun, not hurtful laughter–and if it was meant to be hurtful, I ignored it 😀

SOOOO sad. I would be very dipleased.

I loved gym class as a kid and I think that is so awful to allow students to opt out of it! With the obesity crisis in America only getting worse this is NOT sending the right messege!
