Julie the Bee

October 13, 2010 by Julie 48 Comments

In the words of the Blackeyed Peas, “Imma Be!”

Err… I’m a bee…

Buzzzzzzz

Today, in my yellow and black attire, I feel like a bumble bee! (Picture taken during a pre-work run to Target, in case you were curious.)

I always associate certain color combinations with certain things, such as:

  • Yellow + Black = Bee
  • Pink + Green = Watermelon
  • Gold + Black = University of Central Florida
  • Orange + Blue = University of Florida
  • Yellow + Green = My High School (Fremd, woo!)
  • Red + Green = Christmas
  • Orange + Black = Halloween
  • Red + White + Blue = Fourth of July
  • Anything Neon = The ’80s

My lunch featured an array of colors including yellow, red and green… Which made me think of Ghana’s flag.  (Ryan, are you impressed? See, I did pay attention during the World Cup!)

Wednesday Lunch

The lineup included two sliced peppers (one yellow and one red with specks of green), parsnip fries and a liverwurst and Muenster cheese roll up.

Peppa (Sans Salt)

Parsnip Fries

Ahhhhh!

Guys, I’ve really tried to keep my love for liverwurst to a minimum on the blog. Sometimes it just has to rear its ugly head!

Though several of you likely gagged looking at my plate of stinky liverwurst, I enjoyed every last bite! 😀

Back to work until I bust out of this joint to tackle a fun night of… packing.

Question of the Afternoon

Do you associate certain color combinations with certain things?

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I totally see things in color matching outfits… 🙂

I was thinking about liverwurst just the other day… haven’t had it in years, and I was craving the salty goodness.

And I associate all the holiday colors with holidays, as well as my highschool colors!

I think liverwurst looks so good, but I just never think to get it. May have to try it this weekend. I love trying new things! 🙂

I’d definitely associate black and gold/yellow with either the Columbus Crew (soccer) or Steelers! 🙂 Two of my favorite teams!

I would never, ever imagine you liking liverwurst. Hilarious. Maybe it’s the look of it that scares people away?!?! But I won’t knock it until I try it.
And I do the same thing with colors! Pretty much the same as yours – any combo of blue, white, red = american (flag); purple and gold = ECU Pirates; I used to have a pair of green pants I would wear with a brown top and I felt like an upside-down tree. But I totally feel you on the yellow and black = bee – but it doesn’t stop me from wearing it!!!!

LOVE LIVERWURST!!! Boar’s head makes a Light Liverwurst that is the BOMB with less guilt. There also used to be a Light and Lively Liverwurst I would get at Market Basket in the New England area.

One can never get enough, and with nice stinky german cheese its the best!

I can’t do red and green together in any way unless its Christmas time. Drives me crazy. And red + black will always be UGA to me. For that reason I refuse to wear orange + blue together. LOL I’m a color freak too.

Love the University of Florida reference! Former gator here, whoot whoot!

Liverwurst SOUNDS scary but so did brussel sprouts until I finally tried them!!

I heard somewhere that the middle of the parsnips are woody and unpleasant. Do you cut around the middle or if not, do you notice it and does it bother you?

I have this great green dress that I love, but the guys in my office all make fun of it because it looks like the color of st patricks day. I never knew there was a specific shade of green for the holiday but apparently there is and it inspires my extremely mature male colleagues to call me a leprechaun and talk about lucky charms all day. Hopefully your coworkers are a little kinder and didn’t spend the day bzzzzing every time you walked by!

Blue and yellow reminds me of high school. Red, black and white reminds me of middle school. And green and blue was my second elementary school. Funny how I can still remember each one except for my first elementary school.

And I definitely agree, I think bee every time I see yellow and black.
