Hello, Pretzel Bagel

May 20, 2011 by Julie 42 Comments

Have you guys heard of pretzel bagels?

Pretzel Bagel

You gotta get in on this!

A colleague of mine brought a box of bagels from Einstein Bros. Bagels to work this morning to raise money for her Relay for Life team. Put doughy bagels for a great cause in front of my face and I’ll glady fork over $10!

I snagged a freshly baked pretzel bagel and smeared it with honey almond cream cheese to help me power through a boatload of work today.

Schmear!

Our typical writing team includes four writers and with two out of the office (one sick, one on vacation) I was quite innundated with assignments. Gotta pick up the slack!

Though I thought the bagel would give me fuel, it unfortunately left me feeling sleepy. I figured a nutritious smoothie would serve as a great pick-me-up, so I headed home for lunch today to bust out my blender and spend some time with Sadie in our backyard in the warm sun.

Blend, Baby, Blend

I tried to make myself a vanilla-based smoothie, but after swiping a taste from the blender, I added a few scoops of cocoa powder because chocolate is just better than vanilla.

Chocolate Lovah!

In my lunchtime smoothie:

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 1/4 c. almond milk
  • 1 c. frozen strawberries
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 handful fresh spinach
  • 2 pinches xanthan gum

Slurp!

I enjoyed my smoothie bowl while playing with this nut job.

"You Should Come Home For Lunch, EVERY Day!"

She’s so joyful. I can’t help but smile around my lil’ pup!

Less than three hours of the work day remain! I am both excited and sad about my plans for the evening. I’m meeting up with some of my girlfriends tonight (yay!)… but we’re meeting up for a final goodbye dinner for our friend Merri who is moving to New York on Monday. Goodbyes are tough.

Yum! I love me some sweet and salty, so I would put some jam on my pretzel bagel! I actually just talked about sweet and salty in my last post, haha!

I’m going to the store tomorrow and protein powder is on my list! I want to start making some smoothies 🙂

And I love soft pretzels, so that bagel looks delicious… plus how can you say no when it’s for such a good cause?

Well let’s see here. I love carbs and pretzels and bagels are two of my favorites. So pretty sure this bagel would ROCK MY WORLD! I know NYC is all “bagel city” or whatever, but I miss Einstein Bagels. It reminds me of college -I went to school in a very college-town with very few chain-like restaurants. Einstein was one of them, and I lived for it!

I’m so sorry you have to say goodbye to your friend Merri, but you have to come to NYC to visit her. I think you should have a blogger meet up, because I’ll bet hundreds of NYC bloggers want to meet you.

Oh and also, if I made smoothies like yours, I’d totally hop on the subway and try to go home on my lunch breaks. They look that delicious 🙂

the restaurant where I worked as a college student on summer vacay had pretzel ROLLS as their dinner rolls.

it’s safe to say I consumed a whoooole lotta carbs in the summer of 2009.

Honey almond cream cheese? Holy deliciousness. My fave is strawberry cream cheese on a toasty cinnamon raisin bagel. Yes, please.

Never tried pretzel bagels, but we get pretzels rolls all the time from a local bakery. They are amazing as garlic bread or buns for turkey burgers. Or I just eat them as soon as I get home from the bakery!

Now I have a craving for bagels and just ran out of my bagel thins.

Hmm I’ve never had a pretzel bagel either! But it does sound delicious! But I LOVE the honey almond cream cheese! I have it on a whole wheat bagel thin almost every Saturday as a weekend treat! And all of your smoothies are making me crave one too! The only thing I’m usually missing is the xantham gum… how much thicker does that really make it?

And I’m glad tonight will be so fun but I’m sorry that it’s bittersweet… my best friend is moving to DC soon (I’m in SF) so I’ll be right there with you! 🙁
