Cupcake Bridal Shower

May 30, 2011 by Julie 37 Comments

After a night of craziness on Saturday, my girlfriends and I put on our mature bridesmaid faces for Leah’s beautiful bridal shower.

The Chicago weather was perfectly appropriate for the shower – it was thunderstorming – but that didn’t damper the mood one bit.

Leah’s sister and maid of honor Rachel planned an adorably classy bridal shower for Leah at Emmett’s, a nice restaurant located in my childhood hometown of Palatine.

When we arrived, we were instantly drawn to the gorgeous centerpieces.

Cupcakes towers, adorned in Leah’s wedding colors, were made by a family friend and were absolutely stunning. It took a lot of willpower not to take a swipe of icing off one of those bad boys right away!

After chatting away while munching on appetizers that included fresh fruit, stuffed mushrooms (so good!), fried pita chips and spinach artichoke dip, everyone took their seats to enjoy a light lunch before the present opening began.

I ate a plate of salad with balsamic dressing and three mini sandwiches. I kept eyeing the cupcake tower and was thrilled when it was officially time for dessert.

You better believe I grabbed another one. The buttercream icing was irresistible.

After dessert and some bridal shower trivia games, it was time for Leah to open her presents. Her fiancé Matt arrived at the shower just in time to share in the fun!

Once Leah and Matt worked their way through all of their gifts, everyone chatted for a bit more before snapping pictures.

And the friends since elementary school!

I spent the rest of Sunday with Leah and her family before we met up with friends again to go see the movie Bridesmaids. How appropriate, huh? The movie was hysterical and a nice easy night was exactly what we needed after Saturday night’s bachelorette party fun.

This morning, I hopped on a plane back to Orlando, sad to say goodbye to my girlfriends, but excited because I know we’ll all be together again in the beginning of July for Leah and Matt’s wedding! If this weekend was any kind of preview of their wedding day, it’s going to be amazing.

Off to unpack and take it easy tonight while watching The Bachelorette on t.v. Another work week begins tomorrow!

That takes real talent to create such beautiful cupcakes! What a great idea to incorporate them as centerpieces.

Bridesmaids was hysterically funny~ the funniest we’ve seen in a long time! My husband and I were laughing out loud the entire time, and we weren’t the only ones!
