Not a Total Waste

July 11, 2011 by Julie 72 Comments

After Ryan got off work today, we drove about 75 minutes to a neighborhood in Ocala to check out the house we saw online that looked like our dream home. Ryan’s official start date with his new company is July 25, so we’re in a bit of a rush!

Before checking out the house, we stopped by Smoothie King for smoothies.

Ryan really wanted to order “The Hulk” smoothie from Smoothie King for dinner. He used to get The Hulk all the time in college and became quite excited at the sight of Smoothie King along the road.

I opted for a chocolate smoothie that was only okay. I almost shed a tear when I saw that the smoothie was nearly $5. My Vitamix was not happy about this decision either.

The House

We sipped on our smoothies and polished them off right before checking out the “dream house.”

It had granite countertops in the kitchen, a fenced in backyard, a pool, office space, a gorgeous master bedroom and the location was in the part of town we really like. Plus, it was affordable!

Well, the house was just as amazing as it looked. The bad news? The owners still live there and have yet to find a new place to live…. and they’re looking to buy a new home, meaning the process could take a long time.

Ryan and I were a little irritated because they didn’t explain the situation to us on the phone and waited until we drove over an hour to see the place to explain that they are tentatively planning to move out in September when they advertised that the place would be available August 1. Not cool.

We agreed that the trip wasn’t a total waste because we decided we officially like that part of Ocala and will actively look for homes there.

Plus, we found a gym!!!

The last time we drove through Ocala, we toured four different gyms and all of them were pretty awful.

The gym we saw today offers a bunch of group exercise classes (no BodyPump Sad smile) and has a large area for cardio and weights.

It’s a winner!

And now I’m officially exhausted. I think all the wedding fun from this weekend is catching up to me because I am pooped.

I hope I can keep my eyes open for The Bachelorette tonight!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Oh, that must have been so frustrating, I’m sorry for you both to have had that hassle – but so so cool that you were able to find a gym that you liked, AND that you were able to narrow down your search to a specific area…YAY! 😀 xyx

Smoothie King is so expensive! I can never get myself to pay $5 for a smoothie that I could make much easier & cheaper at home!

Good luck with the dream house 🙂

That is so annoying about the people with the house. I think it’s time to kick them out, LoL! Hope it all works out for you guys.

I remember how much work house-hunting really is. Fun… but work! You’ll find the right place! 🙂

I HATE when people advertise with false information. It is like they are hoping to con you into waiting for them because you love the house so much! Not fair people, not fair!

I feel you, Julie! We are trying to buy a house in another city as well. I do not like being in limbo, makes me nervous!

How lame. People can be really dense and inconsiderate sometimes. No worries though—you guys will find something!!

Glad you found an acceptable gym – that would have been a major concern of mine too!

Wishing you luck in your house search, real estate is so stressful sometimes but yay to finding a new gym!
Smoothie prices are crazy when you know how cheap you can make them at home 🙂

That is so frustrating when the landlord’s lie about the apartment. My fiance and I ran into that a lot when we were looking for an apartment to rent. It’s such a waste of time. Good luck, Julie! I’m sure you will find the perfect place soon 🙂

Oh no, sorry about the house situation 🙁 I’m moving in September and found an apartment online that was affordable and looked really nice, especially for the price. I went to look at it, and it was NOTHING like the picture. Not even close. I wonder how they can even get away with stuff like that… needless to say I will NOT be renting with them.

I can’t believe they didn’t explain that to you before seeing the place. That’s frustrating. I hope you guys can find something you like soon 🙂

Julie I feel your pain! Jake and I thought we found the perfect place a few weeks ago, only to have the owner decide she was going to move in herself 🙁 now we are back to square one! I’ve become slightly obsessed with house hunting..life would be a lot easier if someone could do this for me!!

I’m glad that you were able to put a positive spin on your trip, even though the house outcome was disappointing. House hunting is both exciting and frustrating. My sister just went through a horror herself. Wishing you the best of luck!! 🙂
