Washer and Dryer: Delivered

September 17, 2011 by Julie 35 Comments

We’re back in clothes-cleaning business!

washer and dryer 008

Check out our brand new refurbished washer and dryer!

Craigslist came through for us again this afternoon. I swear that site can be a real gem… or a total dump heap. Today it proved wonderful and we purchased a decent refurbished washer and dryer for $275… and that included delivery, set up and a 30-day warranty.

We’re happy campers and have already successfully washed and dried a load of towels. No more laundromat adventures for this duo!

We are also hoping that when we move out, we’ll be able to resell the washer and dryer to new tenants since most renters don’t cart around appliances… err, furnishings. (<— Do you sense the bitterness? Winking smile)

Today’s activities have also included a trip to the madhouse known as Walmart for some felt for on the bottom of our new dining room chairs (don’t want to scratch the floors) and some barstools.

When we came home, we changed into our bathing suits in an attempt to get some sun while playing in the backyard with Sadie.

She is absolutely loving her kiddie pool. It is h-o-t outside.

Lunch

Lunch today was a two-parter. Earlier in the day I ate a bowl of cereal while the washer and dryer were being set up and a toasted English muffin – butter on one side, peanut butter on the other.

Close to 2 p.m. lunch part dos occurred when I made myself a smoothie!

In the mix:

  • 1 cup blueberry yogurt
  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas
  • 1 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup 2 percent milk
  • 1 large handful fresh spinach

And now it’s time to get pretty! My sister and dad are coming in town for the night (my mom is visiting her sister in North Carolina) and we’re going out to dinner at a new place (still undecided) in Ocala.

Hopefully we find something good! I’ll be honest, right now the only thing I’m craving is a piña colada.

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

    WHAT!? That’s an AWESOME deal!!

Craigslist unfortunately has only screwed my family over. My brother rented from a guy on it who turned out to be wanted for FRAUD in several countries…
    Crazy stuff!

That is an awesome deal, since it came with a warranty and everything was it from some kind of company? We had to pony up and get a washer and dryer when we moved into our new place and ended up getting one from Best Buy. I wanted to go the scratch and dent route but it didn’t seem like there were any good options around here.

That is an absolutely AMAZING deal on a washer/dryer! Nicely done 🙂 Seriously, good things come to those who wait…..and complain a little. Hehe.

I am all about 2 part lunches…they seem to happen often on Saturdays when errands and jobs need to be done! Have fun tonight!

I couldn’t imagine not having my own washer and dryer! One of the pluses for the apartment I decided on was that it had it’s own washer and dryer in unit. Amazing.

That’s a great deal. And I think they might be the same model that I’ve got! Looks like it. If so — very durable. I’ve had mine 10 years and not one day’s problem.

Great deal, Julie. They look like new too! It is hard to believe the temperature is so hot. It hasn’t hit 60 here all day and is raining. It feels and looks like Fall. I’m enjoying the change. Have fun tonight. Have a pina colada for me! Maybe two. xo Mama

I think I bough the exact same model washer today!! (also refurbished). Our house came with only a dryer… We will most likely try to sell ours to the next tenant to. I don’t want to have to get it out of the basement!! Haha. Happy laundering to you!!

when we moved to our current apt, we chose to purchase our own w/d because it was cheaper to purchase a set instead of paying the monthly rental fee…then when we move, we hope to sell them so we don’t have to transport them 🙂 so great plan, that set looks nice!

That’s a pretty awesome deal! I’m sure you’ll be able to sell those no problem when you move out. My husband is obsessed with craigslist. I always joke with him he could make a living solely off buying and selling things on that site. There are STEALS out there if you’re willing to do the work/research!
    Enjoy your new furnishings 😉

When I was first out of school, we had a Suds and Duds. A laundromat with a bar. That was pretty cool. But there is nothing like throwing a load of laundry in whenever you want!

Definitely a good deal, that’s the same kind of thing we got when we had to purchase a washer/dryer for out apt, also from Craigslist, but up here in Ohio. Still working well a year and a half later! 🙂
