Sadie Turns Four

January 20, 2012 by Julie 119 Comments

We tried to crate-train you, but your adorable puppy eyes and pitiful whimpers turned our hearts to mush.

crate training

We tried to tire you out by taking you with us on the long runs of our half marathon training plan. While we wanted to pass out on the couch when we arrived home, you wanted to play fetch. You are immortal.

child's play

We tried to never give you people food. Your sorrowful eyes made us slowly give in, first trying to trick you into thinking people food was gross by giving you a piece of broccoli. Of course you loved it.

sadie love

We thought adding a dog into our lives wouldn’t be that big of a change. Then you decided it was your mission in life to make us pay attention to you at all times. So now we mess with you whenever possible. (I’m pretty sure you love it.)

freaks

We tried to teach you how to fake die upon hearing the word “BANG.” It took you 10 “BANGS” to actually “die,” which seemed a little too slow and gruesome. The trick was abandoned indefinitely.

dog hates trick

We tried to remember to keep up with the training assignments we were given during puppy training class. We forgot nearly every week and you were fortunately smart enough to learn a trick in the five minutes before class began. Except for “BANG.” And heel.

wise dog

We tried not to turn into dog-obsessed crazies, but it happened. We fell in love.

This melted my heart!! My little pug Finnegan turned 4 in November. He’s so spunky, but his gray beard reminds me that he won’t be here forever and to cherish every awesome moment! Dogs are just the best!! Happy birthday, Sadie!! : )

Totally Random Fact: I was reading the Wikipedia page about Billie Holiday after hearing a particularly good song (‘Good Morning Heartache”)

I found out that her mother’s name was Sadie Fagan!

    Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billie_Holiday
you can just control+F “Sadie Fagan” instead of reading the whole page. Happy Birthday Sadie!! 🙂

On Monday, we are celebrating our dog Yukon’s 4th birthday. It’s the anniversary of when we adopted him, sothat’s what we celebrate as his b-day.

My lab learned not to like people food (except for pizza crusts) when he jumped on the table while my mother was out of the room and he found chips and salsa. When we came back in the room, he was dragging his tongue along the floor. I guess it was too hot for him!
