For the Scenery

February 15, 2012 by Julie 49 Comments

My first official day in Sanibel was perfect. We spent the morning and early afternoon on the beach.

Don’t let the book fool you. I definitely read celebrity gossip magazines and didn’t even crack it open once. (I did get some work done though, so I wasn’t a total waste out there.)

I grabbed a quick lunch back at the condo (leftovers from last night’s dinner + an orange) before heading back out to the beach for a nice hour-long walk with my sister. When we headed back into the condo around 3 p.m., we decided to go for a bike ride, thinking we’d just pedal around and head back within 30 minutes.

Our bike ride ended up taking us 13 miles!

(We didn’t ride through the wildlife refuge like Ryan and I did on our honeymoon, but hope to make a trip there within the next couple of days.)

We weren’t pedaling hard or anything, so our bike ride wasn’t intense, but we did manage to cover a lot of ground!

Dinner

By the time we got back to the condo, we were ready for dinner. We made dinner at home again and I filled my plate with a salmon burger, broccoli, fruit salad and sliced red pepper.

Dessert wasn’t fancy this evening, but it was delicious!

I ate about half the pack.

We’re thinking about making tonight a movie night! My mom brought a bunch of movies from home to the condo, so we have a decent amount of options.

I am pulling for Babe (you know I love it!), but I think I’m the only one. My sister is voting for Under the Tuscan Sun, which I’ve never seen. She’s not doing a very good job of selling it though, simply saying it “has great scenery.” I mean that’s why I watch a movie… not for the plot… for the scenery.

See ya in the morning!

Ooh listen to your sister on this one – Under the Tuscan Sun is so great! It’s a little cheesy but SUCH a happy, inspiring, feel-good movie. I remember watching it whenever it was on TV in high school and I needed a pick-me-up 🙂 And she’s kinda right about the scenery, it will totally make you want to move to Italy!

My parents gave me that movie, and I put off watching it for a long time because for whatever reason I didn’t think I’d like it. I was wrong though! It really is a good movie. The plot is a little slow, but I enjoyed it. Plus the scenery really is great considering it’s all about Italy.

    I miss bike riding outside!

And I have a friend who’s mom is a graphic designer. When we were younger she was always saying stuff like “You girls should go see x movie. The cinematography is wonderful!” Cinematography: #1 priority of an eight grader.

AND all of the cliches in the movie are completely true! The scenery is gorgeous and also 100% true. BTW I love the plot and you need to watch the movie 🙂
