Things I’m Loving Friday #569

October 3, 2025 by Julie Leave a Comment

It’s Friday and it’s the kick off to Ryan’s birthday weekend for our family! We’re loading up the car and making our way to Asheville later this afternoon to celebrate Ryan’s 42nd birthday and enjoy a short weekend away together as a family.

Before signing off for the weekend, I wanted to take a minute to share a little bit about some of the little things I’m loving most this week, Things I’m Loving Friday style! Keep on scrolling to check ’em out and, as always, thank you so much for making my blog a part of your day. Enjoy your weekend, my friends!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • Free Typing Resources

typing club

During curriculum night at the big kids’ school a couple of weeks ago, a mom of an eighth grader asked whether or not their school teaches typing. I was shocked to find out typing is not something they do in school and, judging by the comments I received on Instagram after I shared this fact, it’s not that uncommon for schools not to offer typing anymore. (We had “computer lab” in elementary school when I was a kid and I loved the typing practice!) I also heard from a teacher who said many kids are used to iPads and screens but not keyboards and that typing is an incredibly important skill that gets harder to master in the later years. That’s all I needed to start doing a little research to implement some home typing practice for our big kids in our house.

I found this blog post from Everyday Reading (one of my fav IG follows, too!) and began with Typing Club for Chase. (We’ll do it with Rhett and Ryder eventually, too.) Chase was immediately into it and I was pretty impressed with the progress he made after only 30 minutes. It’s worth noting that our kids don’t get a lot of screen time or regularly play video games, so it may be a little more exciting to Chase than a 10-year-old who is already really into video games but he seems to enjoy it so far and loves trying to improve his score. I think it will be a helpful resource for our boys!

  • Early Morning Workouts

I’ve been out of the habit of super early morning workouts for a while because I use my early morning times for work, but this week I switched things up and knocked out my workouts before the sun came up and the boys were awake most days. I hate to admit it but it really was a great way to kick off the day. A couple of mornings I woke up feeling crabby and sluggish but by the end of my workout, my mindset shifted and my day began on a much more positive note. Elle Woods really was onto something when she highlighted the endorphins you get from exercise! We’ll see if this shift continues but it’s been a positive one for me this week.

  • Is It Cake/Snake?

Our family looks forward to our weekend movie nights all week long. We love curling up on the couch together to watch a movie or a show and Is It Cake? on Netflix is one of our absolute favorites. Contestants compete to try to make cakes realistic enough to fool a panel of judges and we get such a kick of out trying to guess which creation is cake. (The talent level on this show is out of control!) Last weekend, the boys wanted do their own version and made a snake cake to try to fool their faux panel of judges (each other). We all ended up having so much fun with it!! And now we cannot wait for the Halloween special of Is It Cake? that comes out October 8!

  • Hershey’s Toffee Almond Nuggets

hershey almond toffee nuggets

As someone with a serious sweet tooth, the chocolate section at the grocery store always calls to me. I’ve been around the block with all sorts of specialty chocolates but for the past few months I’ve landed right back on a classic: Hershey Nuggets. Have you guys ever tried the extra creamy toffee almond flavor? My goodness it is an absolute delight. I first tried it when Ryder got a few in a birthday party goodie bag (the child does not like chocolate, I will never understand) and I’ve been buying them on repeat ever since. The size is perfect (especially when you have 2 or 3) and the creamy milk chocolate paired with tiny bits of crunchy almonds and toffee are a match made in texture/mouthfeel heaven. (Look at me saying the word “mouthfeel” like I’m a foodie judge of run-of-the-mill candy or something. I blame the judges on cooking competition shows for that gem.)

  • ILLUME Midnight Pumpkin Plant-Based Candle (My favorite fall candle — currently on sale for $10 on Amazon!)
  • Amazon Baggy Linen Pants (I adore these and have them in two colors. Size down!)
  • Tejari Vanilla Matcha Protein Powder (I use this every day to make my matcha lattes! Code Julie15 saves 15%)
  • Silicone Snack Box (The Amazon version of the box I use for the boys’ after school snacks.)
  • Amazon Drawstring Jeans (Another great find I’ve been wearing on repeat. Also size down in these!)
  • Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray (A game changer for those of us with fine, silky hair. Helps with volume and adds the texture needed for my hair to hold its style/volume.)
  • Arrae Tone Creatine Gummies (The gummies I take daily. I didn’t experience any bloating and the gummy form makes me 10,000x more consistent with taking them.)
  • Clare V. Grande Fanny Bag (A dream of a bag for the next phase of motherhood. Big enough to still hold a ton and beautiful!)
  • Eby Briefs (The seamless underwear that stays in place and feels like a second skin. I’ve been overhauling my underwear almost exclusively with this underwear! I also ordered this seamless wireless bralette in the same material and it’s a dream under tees, sweaters and sweatshirts. And all bras on the Eby site are currently BOGO!!)
  • Reebok Vintage White Sneakers (So comfy — I’ve walked 20k+ steps in them in one day before! But the top-chalk color is the comfy color. The others fit differently which is a little annoying!)
