Bean Boy

March 2, 2011 by Julie 53 Comments

Ryan is my bean boy! He’s always there to help pop the ends off of green beans before we prep them for dinner.

When we were in Sanibel, he and my dad took on this task.

My dad said, “Popping green beans is awful. I’ll never do that again. What a pain. I’d never eat green beans ever again if I had to go through that every time!”

He’s a little dramatic, no? Winking smile

Truth be told, Ryan isn’t a big fan of popping off the ends of the beans either and created his own method involving a huge handful of beans and a very large knife.

Whatever works!

Tonight’s dinner included roasted green beans prepared by Ryan and salmon with a raspberry glaze.

I’m so glad Ryan likes salmon prepared this way. Since he’s not a huge fan of salmon, I love having a great go-to recipe for one of my favorite kinds of fish that I know he really enjoys. Score!

Dessert included two squares of dark chocolate and a fudgesicle.

I think I may grab another one. I’m really cravin’ cold and creamy chocolate tonight!

I remember sitting on the front porch at my parent’s house when I was really little, snapping the end off of fresh green beans from the garden on hot summer evenings. Ahhh memories. <3

Alot of work for the beans, but worth every bite.

And yes a knife or scissors usually get the job a bit faster

We had green beans tonight, but I bought the cheater fresh bag located in the produce section. Just popped it into the microwave, added a few teaspoons of olive oil and some garlic powder, good to go! As a child I use to hate doing that as well…. but it wasn’t that bad compared to husking corn!!!

i usually eat fruit a couple of times a day. i don’t blog about everything that i eat, but i do think fruit pops up in my breakfasts quite often – in yogurt bowls, the bagelwich from this morning, smoothies, etc.
