Cake vs. Pie

March 26, 2010 by Julie 29 Comments

The epic battle is in full swing…

Cake vs. Pie!

Cake vs. Pie

While the guys at my work are into March Madness, the girls of our office (plus two guys) have filled out brackets for the epic Cake vs. Pie competition, as seen on Jezebel.com.

Brackets

I have ICE CREAM CAKE going all the way!

My Bracket

Who doesn’t love creamy ice cream and cake in one? It’s the best of both worlds.

Which do you prefer? Cake or pie?

I’m a cake girl, without a doubt (unless French Silk pie is in the running, in which case I may be swayed).

Breakfast

With all this cake and pie talk, I was grateful for a super-sweet breakfast.

Three cheers for brownie batter hot cereal!

Pre-Cooked Brownie Batter Hot Cereal

Mmm, Chocolate!

Friday's Breakfast

I also munched on a handful of Emerald cocoa roast almonds.

Cocoa Roast Almonds

Chocolate for breakfast = A very good thing.

Workout

Today’s workout was good! I took a BodyPump class and followed it up with 10 minutes of incline walking and 10 minutes on the elliptical.

Sadie enjoyed a nice, long walk afterward too.

I snapped a picture of my lil’ girl this morning and laughed because she looks like she’s a little tripod dog with three legs. 🙂

My Little Tripod

I have a soft spot in my heart for three-legged dogs. I think they’re adorable, though I would never wish that on any dog. I love how even with three legs, dogs are still the happiest creatures in the world!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I’d vote for pumpkin or pecan pie. I’m not a huge cake fan.

As for tripods, we have one named Tucker and he is the best. So cute and so happy! He actually keeps up with our other four-legged pup no problem.

Hmm thats a tough one. I love both cakes and pies that have fruit/jam in them. So carrot cake > chocolate cream pie, but apple pie > angel food cake. That would be a difficult bracket for me to fill!

        PEANUT BUTTER SHEETCAKE
melt: 1 stick butter or margarine
        1 cup water
        4 tablespoons peanut butter
        bring to a boil

in large bowl: 2 c flour
        2 c sugar
        add melted ingredients & beat
        add: 2 eggs
        1 tsp baking soda
        1/3 c milk
bake in greased & floured sheet cake pan (I use the large foil throw away ones) 400 degrees for about 25 minutes.

        PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING
melt: 1 stick butter or margarine
        6 tablespoons milk
        4 tablespoons peanut butter
bring to a boil – then add:
        1 pound powdered sugar
        1 tsp vanilla
mix until blended – frost cake while still warm. Cool before devouring!!! I can’t say its healthy but it sure is delicious……

OMG, I want to do that bracket!!! It depends on what cakes/pies are battling it out…I’m not a fan of plain cake, but throw some delish filling/mousse/frosting in there and it’s a tough call. Happy Friday!!

CAKE all the way!!! If I’m going to consume the calories, I’d choose cake over pie any day!

Now, the tough part is which kind of cake. It’s a close tie between birthday cake and angel food cake. YUMMM! 🙂
