Father's Day Fish Cake

June 20, 2010 by Julie 21 Comments

Happy Father’s Day to all the fantastic fathers out there (who likely are not reading this blog… but please pass along my wishes to the dads you love). 😀

I also want to wish Happy  Father’s Day to this special guy:

Proud to Walk with My Dad

Dancing Duo

In honor of my dad’s special day, my mom, sister and I made him a cake in the shape of a fish since he’s a man who loves the ocean, boating, scuba diving and spear fishing.

We used a box mix to make reduced-sugar yellow cake and I made chocolate cream cheese icing from scratch using this recipe from Cooking Light.

On Second Thought, Maybe Mom Should Do It...

Fish Cake

Just FYI, those three little circles above the cake are supposed to be bubbles. 🙂

I think my dad liked his special cake!

Now we’re heading out for a day on the boat to get some sun and test the new snorkel, fins and mask my mom and I bought at a scuba shop yesterday.

Catcha lata! 😀

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Love the cake! I think I’d have to do one either in the shape of a bowling ball or a baseball bat for my Dad. 🙂
