At My House Survey

February 10, 2015 by Julie 81 Comments

Not to be Debbie Downer, but Tuesday is usually one of my least favorite days of the week. On Mondays, I’m still riding the weekend high. Wednesdays are the halfway point of the week, Thursdays are so close to the weekend and Friday is my favorite day of the week! Since Tuesdays are usually kind of meh in my opinion, to brighten this one up, I’m popping in today with a lighthearted survey because blog surveys are kind of my favorite. I love reading them on other blogs and think they’re fun to feature on PBF from time to time, too! Plus, I love reading your survey responses in the comments section!

Today’s At My House Survey is one I saw floating around last month and when Courtney tagged me to participate, I bookmarked the survey and decided to save it for a rainy day!

Heeeere we go!

At My House Survey

  • Household chore I actually enjoy…

giveawayclothes

I always joke that I am missing the “clean gene” that some people have that causes them to actually enjoy any part of cleaning. I am not sure if this is a “chore” really, but the one thing I find myself semi-enjoying is cleaning out my closet and dresser and finding clothes/accessories to donate or giveaway. It feels great to create some space in my drawers and closet get rid of clothes I know I will no longer wear. And if I can possibly make a few extra dollars in the process by sending a bag of stuff to Twice and/or ThredUp, I’m a happy camper!

  • Biggest house disaster…

Aside from our master bedroom, the other two upstairs bedrooms in our house are kind of a mess. We aren’t really sure how we want to decorate them yet and so they’ve become more or less a storage place in the meantime. We’ll get to it eventually once some inspiration strikes, I’m sure!

  • Before company arrives, I hide…

Sadie’s toys! Sadie has a ridiculous number of dog toys and every time Ryan and I go through her big basket to find a few to get rid of, we realize, yet again, that Sadie really does play with all of them, so she gets to keep them because we are gigantic softies. So, yes, she has a billion toys, most of which end up all over our house since she feels the need to greet us with a toy whenever we arrive home.

  • Most recent music download…

Lots of tabata workout music and “Honey I’m Good” by Andy Grammer.

  • The last thing I bought online…

Free People Bralette

Free People bralettes!

  • I hate to shop for…

Jeans. I’m not sure why, but I have the hardest time finding jeans that are flattering and comfortable. Yet another reason why I live in leggings.

  • Favorite family ritual…

Julie and Sadie hiking

Evening walks with Sadie are a favorite of mine! Unless the weather is horrible, Ryan and I almost always take Sadie for an evening walk and I look forward to chatting about the day and enjoying some fresh air with my little family every night.

  • I sleep in…

sleepwear

Lately, since we keep our house ridiculously cold in the wintertime, I’ve been sleeping in my favorite Reebok fleece sweatpants and a cheap, comfy baseball tee I bought at Forever 21 a few months ago. I also love pajama sets and wear this one by Aegean Apparel (bought on sale via RueLaLa) to bed all the time. It’s so warm and cozy! And my favorite slippers are a crazy-warm pair of slightly obnoxious gold sparkly slippers from Bearpaw.

  • I have a style crush on…

blake lively fashion

Blake Lively. I just love all of her looks!

  • I’m currently reading…

Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. I actually started it months ago when I was traveling but put it down and totally forgot about it. I picked it back up on Monday night and figured I should just start over since I forget everything that happens in a book 2.5 days after I’m done reading it. I’m loving it so far (just as I did the first time), but I’ll report back with whether or not I’d recommend it once I’ve made my way through the whole book which I definitely should do soon since I’ll be relaxing beachside in Florida for a few days beginning tomorrow afternoon!

  • How did I ever live without…

running with dog 009

A dog. They’re the best. Sadie is a crazy ray of sunshine and make us laugh every single day.

Now it’s your turn…

Question of the Day

Complete one (or all!) of the following:

  • Household chore I actually enjoy…
  • Before company arrives, I hide…
  • I hate to shop for…
  • I have a style crush on…
  • How did I ever live without…

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I did this survey awhile back and my least favorite household chore is definitely unloading the dishwasher. I’m not sure why, I just don’t like it!

I don’t know how I ever lived without our toddler, Lily-she brings so much light & laughter into our lives <3

My style crush is definitely on duchess Kate! If only I had her budget too…..

that is one of my favorite books, i always recommend to it friends who are looking for an easy (but quirky!) read.

and, my husband and i always ask what we did before our dogs (a gsp and morkie poo, both 3 years old)!! we talk to them constantly and always tell them that they’re our best friends 🙂 even if we just go out to dinner and a movie, on the way home i always say “i can’t wait to see my best friends when i get home!” haha so lame, but they really are the sweetest things to have in life.

Household chore I actually enjoy… mowing the lawn. I know sounds weird but I put on headphones blast Pandora and get in a workout. It’s me time away from the 5yr old 🙂

Before company arrives, I hide… the bras/sports bras I have hanging in the mud room to air dry

I hate to shop for… Obviously Swimsuits but agree with you with jeans. I’m short but have longer legs and I have muscular legs and booty and so petite sizes are too short and slender and regular sizes are way to long and leave big gaps in the back part of the waistband.

I have a style crush on… anyone that gets to wear workout clothes all day and/or preppy styles

How did I ever live without… my son. He’s a ball full of energy but when I get to spend time with him it’s both challenging and fun. I love watching him grow into a little man right before my eyes

If cooking counts as a household chore, I definitely enjoy that! Other than cooking, I got nothing 🙂

I hate shopping for jeans, too! Mostly because they’re a pain to get on and off.

I have a definite style crush on Duchess Kate– she always looks incredible!

Household chore I actually enjoy… tidying up, if that makes sense. It seems therapeutic to come home from work on a Friday (or Saturday, if I decide to just collapse on the couch with a glass of wine on Friday) and put away all of the random items that collect on the tables or dresser throughout the week. I also enjoy cooking if that counts.
Before company arrives, I hide… random piles of clothes.
I hate to shop for… socks. I hate spending money on them, haha. I normally don’t like shopping for any sort of jeans or pants because I’m 5’0″ and seem to have a hard time finding a good fit.

Before company arrives I hide…Nico’s (my dog) toys! All my friends have dogs and we have a open door to all dogs policy at our house most of the time (with the acception of when we throw a big party with family it gets too hectic – who is allergic, who is afraid…etc.). But Nico’s doggie friends are so rough with toys – her favorites always get torn apart when they visit and she sulks for DAYS about it – we have learned to hide them high up in a closet for those occasions!

I hate to shop for…items for cooking recipes. Unless it’s super simple, I hate going and searching for specific items for one recipe. Especially if I don’t plan on using a certain spice again. Seems like a waste of money to me.

I HATE to shop for swimsuits!!! SOOOO MUCH!!!! I’ve gotten to the point where I just buy all the ones that I like on the hanger and take them home to try on.

Most of my company are teenagers, so I don’t hide anything. They don’t care and I love that.

I’m right there with you when it comes to hiding the dog toys before company comes over. Our dog, Bella, loves all of her toys equally and greets us with one in her mouth every time we come home, too! Many of her toys used to be fully intact stuffed animals and are now ripped into multiple rags of fabric. We don’t have the heart to take them away from her but it sure is embarrassing when guests see a stuffed alligator’s head on one side of the room and its leg on the other.

I hate shopping for bras. I don’t know if it’s because I pretend I don’t know my size, or because it’s just tedious? The last time I enjoyed bra shopping was when Lane Bryant was having a Buy One Get One Free sale on all bras, and I bought two sports bras (which have been lifesavers). Otherwise, despite cute designs, bra shopping just doesn’t thrill me.

I am one of the “weird” people who enjoy cleaning….YOU found ME! i like chores because there is sense of accomplishment and completion whereas in my professional life, i feel like there is never an end or sense of completion to any task. my favorite household chore, other than putting fresh sheets on the bed, is cleaning my bathroom. i love when my chrome fixtures are gleaming.
before company arrives, i hide….nothing. i am very well organized and do a general tidying every morning before i leave for work (put clean dishes in the cupboards, fold laundry that hang dried overnight) and when i get home from work (sort mail, empty my work bag/lunch bag, do laundry). my husband on the other hand, leaves bits of himself everywhere typically in certain spots as not to annoy me.
i hate to shop for…i will go with the crowd, jeans and bathing suits. i’ve got muscular legs and a full booty and finding a pair of flattering jeans is frustrating. also, kind of strange but where i live; groceries. i love to cook but most of the stores in my geographic location do not carry the ingredients i need.
i have a style crush on….duchess catherine. her jackets, I WANT them all.
how did i ever live without…DVR. i tape all my shows and watch them when i have time. long gone are those days of fretting about having enough taping time left on a VHS or if the power went out and your recording didn’t record because the VCR went back to the dreaded flashing 12:00.
