Bernie Salazar Interview + Giveaway

February 4, 2012 by Julie 2,651 Comments

Ryan, Sadie and I spent the remainder of our morning on a 3.5 mile hike on our favorite bear, alligator and snake-laden trails.

The wildlife we saw on today’s walk was limited to squirrels and lizards. Vicious beasts!

Lunch

On our way home from the trails, we ran a few errands and grabbed the necessary ingredients for homemade pizza. I think Ryan was a little jealous of my delicious looking veggie pizza from last night and he was craving pizza this afternoon.

When we arrived home, we prepared a pizza topped with spinach, pizza sauce, mozzarella, Italian chicken sausage and avocado.

We didn’t add the avocado until the pizza came out of the oven because we were unsure how it would hold up in 475-degree heat.

I ate three slices of the pizza along with a sliced apple.

Even after eating pizza two times in less than 24 hours, I feel like I could easily eat it again for dinner tonight.

You can never have enough of the good stuff!

Bernie Salazar Interview + Snack Smart Giveaway

Remember how I am partnering with Orville Redenbacher this month for their snack smart campaign? Well, I have one heck of a giveaway for you guys today from them. I wish I could win! It’s amazing!

As you may recall, through this campaign Orville Redenbacher set up a conference call where I was able to chat with former Biggest Loser contestant (and "at home winner") Bernie Salazar a few weeks ago. I passed along a bunch of the questions you guys submitted for him to answer back in January and he addressed a bunch of them in this video!

Bernie Answers Your Health and Fitness Questions

Can’t you just tell he’s such a nice guy from that video? His energy and enthusiasm for healthy living simply sparkle!

And now for the giveaway!

This giveaway basically rocks and includes some amazing items from some of my favorite companies.

My favorite snack happens to be Orville popcorn air popped with no oil. I then spray a little butter flavored Pam on it and add a good coating of Mrs. Dash flavorings. There are some great ones – Tomato Basil Garlic, Southwest Chipotle… yum!

My go-to is usually an apple with crunchy peanut butter, but lately I’ve loved spicing things up by whipping up big batches of raw protein energy bites (dates, nuts, and any flavor combo) in the food processor. So easy and so energizing!
