Bernie Salazar Interview + Giveaway

February 4, 2012 by Julie 2,651 Comments

Ryan, Sadie and I spent the remainder of our morning on a 3.5 mile hike on our favorite bear, alligator and snake-laden trails.

The wildlife we saw on today’s walk was limited to squirrels and lizards. Vicious beasts!

Lunch

On our way home from the trails, we ran a few errands and grabbed the necessary ingredients for homemade pizza. I think Ryan was a little jealous of my delicious looking veggie pizza from last night and he was craving pizza this afternoon.

When we arrived home, we prepared a pizza topped with spinach, pizza sauce, mozzarella, Italian chicken sausage and avocado.

We didn’t add the avocado until the pizza came out of the oven because we were unsure how it would hold up in 475-degree heat.

I ate three slices of the pizza along with a sliced apple.

Even after eating pizza two times in less than 24 hours, I feel like I could easily eat it again for dinner tonight.

You can never have enough of the good stuff!

Remember how I am partnering with Orville Redenbacher this month for their snack smart campaign? Well, I have one heck of a giveaway for you guys today from them. I wish I could win! It’s amazing!

As you may recall, through this campaign Orville Redenbacher set up a conference call where I was able to chat with former Biggest Loser contestant (and "at home winner") Bernie Salazar a few weeks ago. I passed along a bunch of the questions you guys submitted for him to answer back in January and he addressed a bunch of them in this video!

Bernie Answers Your Health and Fitness Questions

Can’t you just tell he’s such a nice guy from that video? His energy and enthusiasm for healthy living simply sparkle!

And now for the giveaway!

This giveaway basically rocks and includes some amazing items from some of my favorite companies.

you’re right…this is an AWESOME giveaway! My favorite healthy snack is ANY kind of fruit! I definitely agreed with you a few posts back when you said how easy it was to just grab fruit and go, whereas veggies take more (not much, but it seems like it when you’re in a hurry!) time!

Dried bananas! My mom used to make what we called “banana candy” in our dehydrator when we were kids. Now, I don’t have my own dehydrator, and it’s hard to find dried banana without added sugar or oil. Thank goodness for Trader Joe’s!

my favorite snack is cookie dough….the healthy way….made with garbanzo beans! It’s super healthy, super yummy, and super versatile. Best with apple slices or a graham cracker. A win-win snack for sure!

Love the website! Oh, btw, just bought my first pair of compression socks (in hot pink, of course). Umm, i don’t think I’ll be taking them off….EVER! Tomorrow will be the first run in them, but I’m already hooked! Hubby and I are running our first marathon together this year ON our 10th anniversary, June 2nd.

What would really feel good is a head to toe compression body suit! ha!
