Blue Highway

September 16, 2013 by Julie 91 Comments

Good morning! How are you guys doing today? I hope you had a great weekend and were able to catch up on some sleep.

After an eventful Saturday afternoon spent mountain biking, Ryan and I changed and met up with some friends for dinner.

Stitch Fix Dress

I wore my latest StitchFix (<— referral link!) dress (along with an awkward smile) which I immediately fell in love with when it arrived in the mail on Thursday. It’s incredibly soft and comfortable and seems like a great fit for a casual dinner with friends or running errands around town.

I also ended up keeping a bracelet from the same package.

IMG_0107

I love the chunky look of the bracelet and the pop of gold! (And yes, I need to update the date on my watch.)

Eight of us met at Blue Highway, a new pizza restaurant that we’ve heard a lot of great things about from several people.

IMG_0115

Ryan and I arrived first and ordered appetizers for everyone to share, including a bruschetta and hummus plate and seasoned fries.

IMG_0116

IMG_0117

While we waited for our friends to arrive, our waitress asked if we wanted to sample some beer and when we said yes, she brought us two little plastic salad dressing cups of beer. I thought she brought us shots of warm butter at first!

IMG_0111

IMG_0113

Ha!

For my entrée, I started with a basic salad and then Ryan and I shared the Rustica Sicilian pizza.

IMG_0119

Though the pizza was good, Ryan and I agreed that we prefer traditional pizza with lots of cheese, not just random dollops of cheese. Next time we’ll order thin crust and make sure there’s lots of cheese sprinkled on top!

Following our dinner, four of us went to the Charlie Horse, a local bar to see one of Ryan’s coworkers’ band play live.

IMG_0122

They played lots of Tom Petty, so I loved it!

It was a great Saturday night!

On Sunday, Ryan and I woke up for the early church service before ordering breakfast at a local coffee shop and running errands around town.

Once we made it home, we spent hours cleaning our house. I got in the cleaning zone and kept going and going. I even organized our pantry! Woop! I love going into the week with a clean house. I am not one of those people who got the “clean gene” and loves cleaning, so when the “I need to clean” feeling hits, I roll with it.

I hope your Monday is off to a good start!

Questions of the Morning

  • Do you enjoy cleaning?

I don’t like cleaning at all (dusting, vacuuming, etc.), but I don’t mind organizing. I actually semi-enjoyed organizing our pantry yesterday. And it looks rockin’ today!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Those fries & hummus look so good! The pizza, not so much. Cheese is where it’s at!

I’m a clean freak kind of person. I don’t enjoy dusting and vacuuming, but I enjoy getting my house cleaned up and tidy. Deep cleaning is not ever fun, but enjoying a tidy house is the best.

I agree with you – a decent pizza needs a proper amount of cheese! When you can see a bunch of sauce that’s a warning sign. 🙂

I don’t like cleaning OR organizing but I always love the end result. Usually I’ll try and tackle a big list of things and do them super-fast so I don’t have to think about it. I still have a fair amount of unpacking and organizing to do since our move… and that was a year ago. Whoops. 🙂

How do you like StitchFix? What % of the things they send do you think you actually keep?

I am really enjoying StitchFix! This is my third “fix” and it was the best one yet! They seem to realize that I like things that are less expensive. For a while the stuff I was getting was $75 and up and I don’t like to spend that much and specified this when I reviewed my packages. The bracelet in this post was $28 and high quality and the dress was around $40 I think, which I thought was a lot more reasonable. They take feedback on every package they send you, so I give detailed feedback on everything which I think helps me next package be even better! I actually liked everything in the current package, but sent three of the five things back (mostly b/c of overall fit). I actually loved a white lace dress they sent, but know I won’t wear it often enough for it to be worth it.

My mum is a natural born clean freak so I grew up with a very clean house and when our apartment is clean I just feel better! We had friends over on Saturday night so needless to say our apartment is very clean for once 🙂

Sounds like a great weekend. I wish Stitch Fix shipped to Australia as they have some great stuff. Love the bracelet you got.

That pizza doesn’t even look like it has cheese! But I’m a fan of the pizza sauce more than cheese. By the way, that dress is so pretty!

I think we’re opposite when it comes to cleaning. I’m a clean freak and need every place spotless. But I’m okay if it’s unorganized, as long as it’s clean. Usually after a week or two of clutter, it finally gets to me and I organize.

Cleaning? Well, I like having a clean house so it’s a necessary evil. After I started working out in the mornings, somehow I became inspired to do my cleaning on Thursday mornings, which is a rest day. Cleaning your house first thing in the morning has the same perks as working out in the morning: no excuse to miss it and it puts you in a good place for the rest of the day.

I will spot clean throughout the week but it takes a while to reallllllly clear everything out of the room and get down and dirty to clean them! I especially hate cleaning the shower! Congrats on your foray into mountain biking, though I’m not sure how often you’ve tried it before. Mountain biking is my exercise of choice and we have a decent amount of good trail options in Virginia. If your husband ever ventures to West Virginia, he should check out Snowshoe, WV for downhill trails in the summertime. Good stuff.
