Brave the Rain

December 27, 2011 by Julie 40 Comments

Late this morning, we had enough of cleaning and decided it was time to brave the rain and head out on a hike.

It was drizzling for the first 10 minutes or so, but then we got really lucky and the rain held off for the remainder of our time on the trails and we hiked under overcast skies.

(My pink Nike running top was a Christmas gift from Ryan. So soft!)

Sadie had a blast sniffing every leaf and stick as always.

We ended up hiking for right around two hours and by the time we were done, I was ready for lunch!

Lunch

Unfortunately we still haven’t made it to the grocery store, so the options were sparse, but I threw together a plate that included tuna salad, white cheddar popcorn and two Babybel light cheeses.

My lunch was severely lacking in fruits and veggies, but I wasn’t about to trust the shriveled tomatoes or zucchini in our fridge. Scary stuff.

I also snacked on more trail mix but made the mistake of eating it right out of the container rather than portioning it out into a bowl and ate a million servings.

Nuts are my weakness. (TWSS)

Off to the grocery store. I’m about to own the produce section!

Ugh I have to do the same thing! I got a juicer for Christmas and I used my few remaining produce products trying it out yesterday. Now I’ve literally got NOTHING and I’m dying to make more fun juices!

I swear, Sadie and Lilly are long lost sisters.

Trail mix is DANGEROUS. Especially homemade chex mix.

The same thing with the rain happened to me today! My little brother and I went for a short run and it rained for the first few minutes and then it stopped. YAY! 😀

PS – Love the pink shirt! So cute!

I wish I loved nuts! (haha still TWSS!)
In my head, I LOVE them, and then I serve up a little bowl, and three or four nuts in, I can’t take ’em anymore.

So oily or something, I dunno!
I might be guilty of picking out the dried fruit bits and chocolate from the trail mix! 🙂

I was desperate to take a hike yesterday but no one in my family wanted to come along!

On another note– Julie, lately I’ve found many of your sentences quite confusing (especially the run-ons). You are a good writer, but I think you need to take the time to proofread and make sure what you are writing is user-friendly. I find myself rereading sentences just for clarity! If you don’t have time to proofread, don’t post so often. Perhaps I’m being too nitpicky because I am an editor. But, please consider my suggestion!

thanks for your input, natalie. i do proofread my posts, but will take extra time to read over longer sentences. i can see how they might be overwhelming to readers while they make total sense to me since i lived it/wrote it. thanks for the head’s up.
