Cats vs. Dogs

March 15, 2011 by Julie 87 Comments

Good news! As I prepared my lunch in the break room this afternoon, the cream cheese police stayed faaar away and I happily smothered a toasted bagel with all the cream cheese that my little heart desired without judgment or input from the peanut gallery.

Cream Cheesy

For good measure, I made sure to enjoy a couple of cream cheese fingers during the process. 😉

The cream cheese used in today’s meal is my new favorite cream cheese spread.

Dip-a-Dip

Philadelphia spinach artichoke, baby! It reminds me so much of spinach artichoke dip and I just adore it.

(And no, I haven’t tried Trader Joe’s new peanut butter cream cheese. We don’t have a TJ’s around me. It’s sad.)

Along with the cream cheese, I topped my bagel with fresh zucchini slices and served it with a side of carrot slices and Greek yogurt with jelly.

Lunchtime!

I remember hearing some people claim that carrots are kind of sweet a couple of years ago. I would roll my eyes at them and think they were total loonies, but now I kind of get it. Maybe eating other vegetables makes you realize that some veggies actually do have a sweetness to them?  Broccoli + Asparagus = Not sweet. Carrots + Corn = Sweet!

All in all, this was a great lunch!

Cats vs. Dogs

Longtime PBF readers (love you guys!) may remember when I posted about my office’s participation in Jezebel’s version of March Madness: Cake vs. Pie last year.

Well, it’s that time of the year again and the competition category is another age-old battle.

Cats vs. Dogs!

Late this morning, my coworkers and I filled out our respective brackets (available online here) and will be avidly checking Jezebel to see who clinches the throne on April 5. (I have the golden retriever coming out on top. Shadow from Homeward Bound? I mean, c’mon!)

Our brackets have been posted around the office where everyone can judge and scrutinize each other’s picks. It’s a blast!

Cats vs. Dogs

Now I ask you the lingering question…

Do you prefer cats or dogs?

I grew up with cats (Tiger, an energetic tabby cat, and Smokey, a seriously psychotic black cat) and I absolutely adore kitties. Ryan and I would have one if it weren’t for my allergies. But, I must say that Sadie has grabbed onto my heart and made me a dog person. She’s so joyous, funny and completely crazy and I kind of love her. 🙂

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Haha very cute! I’m definitely more into dogs. We had 3 over the course of my childhood and if you ask me, they’re far more fun than cats! 🙂

Sadly, my little heart desires a whole lot more cream cheese than that when I have it around… I tend to go a little nuts with it- YUMM!!

I am 110% a DOG person. It’s probably not a fair fight, though, since cats my my eyes swell shut 🙂

Growing up, I was obsessed with cats. As in.. if I got a doll for my birthday I would burst into tears and I had a pet net FULL of stuffed cats and cat EVERYTHING in my room. Now I am more partial to dogs.

I am very biased towards dogs, and specifically my dog. I had one cat growing up and she was a doll, but that was enough for me. I like animals that I can workout with. (I had spinach and artichoke cream cheese on my bagel for lunch, too! Sadly, I didn’t have zucchini, but I did have an apple…very very weird combo.)

I LOVE cats but if I had to choose just one — a cat or a dog — I’d choose a dog. They have so much personality and I love being active with them — taking them on runs etc!

Cats are definitely my favorite, although I don’t mind small cat-size dogs 🙂 My cats are always super happy to see me when I get home, yet they never tackle me, nor drool on me the way that dogs sometimes do. Although my one cat has been licking my eyelids when I’m sleeping. It’s a very weird, warm, wet sensation to wake up to, so if he keeps it up I may become a (small) dog person after all 🙂

My cat licks my eyelids too! He always does it in the morning because he knows I will wake up and give him food :). I do like both cats and dogs, but have always had a soft spot for kitties because I feel like they are so misunderstood. A lot of people meet a mean one and think all cats are like that, or think they are all stuck up because they met one cat that was. It’s not true!!! My cat is very sweet, cuddly, loving, and always sticks by my side. He knows who his mama is 🙂

Totally a dog person, although I’ve owned cats that are pretty top notch. Our cat Pablo (orange tabby) is so aptly nicknamed Pablo Escobar, as he is the head honcho of the neighborhood. Cats and dogs alike fear Pablo when he comes sauntering by. He just has the greatest personality, no one can help but love his little sauciness. He’s probably the only cat I’ll ever like owning…my mom’s other cat is a huge priss and acts so spoiled and entitled it drives me crazy. I’ll take my dogs large and playful… like my big german shepherd Rex 😀 120lbs of pure lovin!

truly he is…we thought he was going to pass away during the christmas holiday (he is 15..!!), he was really ill and super lethargic, it was really heartbreaking to see him lose so much weight…. but after a few weeks he miraculously recovered and was back to ruling his kingdom once again! he put back on all the weight he lost so he looked healthy again, and is just as good as new.

        …love that cat, hahah.

However, I think I’m ready to get my first dog (big dog, not a Shih Tzu, sorry to Shih Tzu lovers…), so I’m hoping to turn this around!
