It felt great to spend the whole day with my husband. He’s my favorite.
Perfect Wedding
Our date began with a matinee showing of a local play at the Ocala Civic Theater.
The show, Perfect Wedding, was quite funny! It reminded me a lot of Rumors, the last show we saw at the theater and was filled with miscommunication and lots of humorous one-liners. So far I’m rather impressed with Ocala’s community theater!
I also appreciate that intermission snacks are reasonably priced.
$1? Yes, please!
When I was in New York with my friends and we went to see the show How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (which was awesome), a bag of M&Ms cost nearly $5! That’s like $.50 per M.
After the show, neither Ryan nor I were hungry enough for dinner quite yet, so we ran some errands.
We stopped by Barnes & Nobel because Ryan wanted to pick up the eighth book in a series he’s reading and I wanted to snag Fever, the sequel to Wither, the book I began reading last week.
Fever is on mega-hold at our local library (I’m 13th in line) and since I just finished Wither yesterday, I’m feeling quite anxious to continue on with the series.
Unfortunately Fever is only available in hardback and cost nearly $18 at Barnes & Noble, so I passed and ordered it on Amazon when we got home.
I saved $6! (And that’s my stink eye face. Not my best look.)
After our time at Barnes & Noble, we were ready for dinner.
Dinner at Bonefish Grill
We were excited to try out our local Bonefish Grill since we’ve only ever been to one in St. Petersburg with my family and we really enjoyed the food.
A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by an account associate with Bonefish Grill and offered $25 toward any meal at the restaurant. (Don’t worry, there’s something in it for you, too!)
Since we arrived before 6:30 p.m. we were able to take advantage of Bonefish Grill’s happy hour, which not only includes discounted drinks, but discounted food for only $5 from 4 – 6:30 p.m. through April 16, including:
- Fresh Ceviche
- Bang Bang Tacos (featuring Bonefish Grill’s signature Bang Bang Shrimp)
- Bang Bang Chicken
We started our meal with their freshly baked bread and olive oil.
I ended up eating three pieces. Stick warm, doughy bread in front of me even when I’m not hungry and I can’t say no!
For an appetizer, Ryan and I shared an order of the Mussels Josepheine, which included Prince Edward Island mussels sautéed with tomatoes, garlic, basil and lemon wine sauce.
Anytime I see mussels on a menu, I have to get them, so I was happy when Ryan was game! The sauce with the mussels was slightly sweet and incredibly delicious. I’d love to try to recreate it at home, but I have a feeling I’d botch it up pretty horribly and ruin perfectly good mussels in the process.
For our entrees, Ryan ended up getting the Bang Bang Tacos (only $5!) and they were fantastic!
I ordered the lobster with a side of asparagus and their vegetable of the day which included garbanzo beans and Andouille sausage.
We both cleared our plates!
Our date night to Bonefish Grill was a lot of fun and I’d gladly go back! Ryan and I both commented that we were especially impressed with our waiter. He was so personable, friendly and we had a great time joking around with him.
Annnnd here’s the best part!

Mmm bonefish is hands down my favorite “chain” restaurant. It doesn’t have that feel at all, and feels like an amazing fancy schmancy restaurant without those prices! I really love their house salad that actually COMES with the meal! It makes me sad it’s rare to find restaurants that still do that, but bonefish delivers. The house dressing is incredible. I also love love love how you can pick your own sauces for a variety of fish….really makes your dinner feel specialized and you can get exactly what you’re craving. I’m a sucker for the mango salsa 🙂
Bang bang bang please!
I love Bonefish. Their bang bang shrimp is my favorite!
