It felt great to spend the whole day with my husband. He’s my favorite.
Perfect Wedding
Our date began with a matinee showing of a local play at the Ocala Civic Theater.
The show, Perfect Wedding, was quite funny! It reminded me a lot of Rumors, the last show we saw at the theater and was filled with miscommunication and lots of humorous one-liners. So far I’m rather impressed with Ocala’s community theater!
I also appreciate that intermission snacks are reasonably priced.
$1? Yes, please!
When I was in New York with my friends and we went to see the show How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (which was awesome), a bag of M&Ms cost nearly $5! That’s like $.50 per M.
After the show, neither Ryan nor I were hungry enough for dinner quite yet, so we ran some errands.
We stopped by Barnes & Nobel because Ryan wanted to pick up the eighth book in a series he’s reading and I wanted to snag Fever, the sequel to Wither, the book I began reading last week.
Fever is on mega-hold at our local library (I’m 13th in line) and since I just finished Wither yesterday, I’m feeling quite anxious to continue on with the series.
Unfortunately Fever is only available in hardback and cost nearly $18 at Barnes & Noble, so I passed and ordered it on Amazon when we got home.
I saved $6! (And that’s my stink eye face. Not my best look.)
After our time at Barnes & Noble, we were ready for dinner.
Dinner at Bonefish Grill
We were excited to try out our local Bonefish Grill since we’ve only ever been to one in St. Petersburg with my family and we really enjoyed the food.
A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by an account associate with Bonefish Grill and offered $25 toward any meal at the restaurant. (Don’t worry, there’s something in it for you, too!)
Since we arrived before 6:30 p.m. we were able to take advantage of Bonefish Grill’s happy hour, which not only includes discounted drinks, but discounted food for only $5 from 4 – 6:30 p.m. through April 16, including:
- Fresh Ceviche
- Bang Bang Tacos (featuring Bonefish Grill’s signature Bang Bang Shrimp)
- Bang Bang Chicken
We started our meal with their freshly baked bread and olive oil.
I ended up eating three pieces. Stick warm, doughy bread in front of me even when I’m not hungry and I can’t say no!
For an appetizer, Ryan and I shared an order of the Mussels Josepheine, which included Prince Edward Island mussels sautéed with tomatoes, garlic, basil and lemon wine sauce.
Anytime I see mussels on a menu, I have to get them, so I was happy when Ryan was game! The sauce with the mussels was slightly sweet and incredibly delicious. I’d love to try to recreate it at home, but I have a feeling I’d botch it up pretty horribly and ruin perfectly good mussels in the process.
For our entrees, Ryan ended up getting the Bang Bang Tacos (only $5!) and they were fantastic!
I ordered the lobster with a side of asparagus and their vegetable of the day which included garbanzo beans and Andouille sausage.
We both cleared our plates!
Our date night to Bonefish Grill was a lot of fun and I’d gladly go back! Ryan and I both commented that we were especially impressed with our waiter. He was so personable, friendly and we had a great time joking around with him.
Annnnd here’s the best part!

I’ve never been to bonefish grill so i have no idea what’s on their menu to even try, but would love the opportunity. i’m heading to st pete in a couple of months and this would be the perfect.
The Dorado (mahi mahi) sounds so good!
I would love to try the jumbo sea scallops and shrimp with the warm mango salsa. There are at least two Bonefish Grills in Colorado, and I have been dying to go!
I’d try the bang bang tacos…I’ve never been to Bonefish & have been dying to try it!
i LOVE bonefish and the bang bang shrimp is my favorite!
Wow! I had no idea Bonefish was a chain restaurant. It’s one of my favorite restaurants to go to! I absolutely love the bread and olive oil. I especially love the bang bang shrimp! It’s spicy, but not crazy spicy. There’s also a pasta dish with seafood that I love to get.. But I’m blanking on the name of it.
Yum gotta love Bonefish!
I’ve only been once but would love to go back! Bang bang shrimp were delicious!!
I’ve never been to a Bonefish Grill, but there’s one close to our home in Virginia. I’m going to have to visit after seeing those tacos! Bang bang shrimp sounds delicious!
That sounds like such a fun day! I have been wanting to try Bonefish for such a long time. I’d like to take my mom to celebrate her 55th birthday coming up 🙂 Everything on the menu sounds amazing, but I think I would have to get either the grilled Mahi Mahi or grilled Atlantic Salmon, with a side of steamed broccoli (my favorite!). I would have to start with either the bang bang shrimp or crab cakes, such a tough decision!
Bang Bang Chicken now that sounds delicious! I have never seen that on their menu before!
I would love to try the bang bang shrimp, heard such great things and I have never been to Bonefish before! 🙂
Haha I get the impression that B&N carries tons of hardcopies and not a lot of paperback on purpose. I went in there looking for 2 different books and they both only had it in hard copy even though it had come out in paperback. No thank you!
I’ve never been to Bonefish Grill, but I saw that it’s in the suburbs here in Chicago, as well as 2 locations in the burbs of Kansas City! I was also pleasantly surprised to see they had a separate gluten free menu! I’d try the sea scallops and shrimp since I’ve been craving shrimp recently!
bang bang shrimp with rice!
Those bang bang tacos look great! That’s what I’d try. 🙂
I wanna win, I wanna win!! I love their bang bang shrimp, so I’d love to try those bang bang tacos!! 🙂
I would definitely love to try the lobster!! It is my favorite dish, but I rarely order it because of the price. Those tacos don’t look took shabby either…

I loveee Bonefish Grill! Their Bang Bang Shrimp is seriously delicious, so I’d like to try the Chicken version too!
Put fresh Ceviche in front of me any day and it will be gone in 60 seconds 🙂
Their blackened grouper is delicious! I have gotten it on top of their salads before and would love to go back and have that again!
bang bang shrimp is my fave!
I would try the bang bang shrimp. I’ve heard how amazing it is, and even made a bang bang shrimp recipe of my own, so I’d love to see how mine measures up!
A Bonefish Grill just opened by my house! I haven’t been there yet but would love to try the Pan Asian Salmon!
Bang bang tacos sound delic!!
I love Bonefish!! I especially enjoy their scallops 🙂
What a great giveaway!!! I absolutely love the calamari at Bonefish. The Asian sauce is such a great alternative to the typical marinara sauce found on most menus.
