Drink Up, Buttercup

January 26, 2011 by Julie 115 Comments

Glad to know my blog is read by fellow Grungy McGees!

Now we can all sip out of our dirty tumblers and coffee mugs knowing we’re not alone in our tendency to use a quick rinse as our cleaning method of choice.

GULP

Drink up, buttercup!

First lunch then fashion!

Lunch

This afternoon I enjoyed a toasted sweet wheat Alternative Bagel topped with vegetable cream cheese and a reheated egg white that I fried up this morning.

Bagelwich

For those of you who think bagel thins are for babies but don’t want to eat bagels the size of your face, definitely check out Alternative Bagels. They’re thick, substantial and very… um… bagely?

Sliced Up

Heeey, Cream Cheese!

I really loaded the cream cheese on this bagelwich. My massive spreading of the cheese even prompted a woman who was standing near me in the break room to say, “Wow. That’s a lot of cream cheese.”

I really wanted to go all Chris Farley on her (“Lay off, I’m starving!”), but I smiled,  took a bite of my bagelwich and creepily let the cream cheese dribble down my chin. Fine, I’m just kidding. But I did smile. 😉

Alongside the heavy-on-the-cream-cheese bagelwich, a sliced orange pepper was served. Oh how I wish red, orange and yellow peppers were on sale more often!

Fashion

Today’s look:

Wednesday Wardrobe

  • Cream short-sleeved turtleneck: Limited
  • Razmatazz high-waisted skirt: Old Navy
  • Infinity scarf: Express
  • Watch: Michele (My wedding day present from Ryan)
  • Maroon suede pumps: Nine West
  • Pale, pasty and slightly-hairy legs: Julie Fagan

Off to snag an apple from the mini restaurant in our building before it’s back to work!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I love your scarf! I really love infinity scarfs. I wish I could wear scarfs more often but I don’t know how to tie them. Haha. It doesn’t seem that complicated but mine never look right.

    That sandwich looks delicious! 🙂

There is no such thing as too much cream cheese. I hate it when people comment on my food like that. Drives me nuts!

I guess I’m a McGrubber, too, because my husband always gets on me about cleaning my water bottle more than one a month. Whoops.

Cute outfit! And thanks for the Alternative Bagels tip – a grocery store near my house carries them. Yipee!

    two comments

    1. I have the same coffee tumbler as you! And I just give it a good rinse too… 🙂

    2. Do you feel like there is more pressure to look fashionable now that you have started to post pictures? I definitely have my “easy” outfits for when I don’t feel like putting something together.

I love the pink skirt. My favorite color. Though I’m super jealous of your bare legs. Mine have a fur coat going on to keep them warm even under all twenty layers I’ve been wearing.

Haha, I love the Chris Farley reference! I always say that when I’m REALLY hungry.

Why do some people have to make negative “food comments” about what you are eating? I eat a lot of healthy foods (fresh veggies, fruit, granola, yogurt, etc) and tend to eat mini meals throughout the day. It bothers me when a coworker asks “Is that all you eat for lunch?!” My lunch may look small, but I just ate two hours ago and I’m going to probably have a snack in the afternoon too.

    Food comment experience:
One time I was buying a large bag of PB M&M’s and just as I was putting them in my shopping cart an old man walks by and says, “If you eat all that you’re going to get big and fat!” I had no clue what to say, but I was sure to buy TWO large bags of PB M&M’s. Lay off me old man I need my peanut butter and chocolate fix!!! 🙂

Also, I LOVE your skirt. Too bad they don’t have my size left.

I hate it when people comment on my food…. okay- on my blog…fine. I don’t care. Judge all you want.

But all my friends feel the need to comment on my meals whenever we go out. I’m sorry that I do not eat fast food all the time like you do. Sorry that my “bunny” food doesn’t appeal to you. But I like it. 😉

    Love your outfit!
You need to check out Sam’s Club. They have a 6 pack of bell peppers (2 yellow, 2 red, 2 orange) for ~$6. It may be $5.98, it may be $6.98; I can’t remember. Anyways, it’s a good deal. They also have 2 pounds of the tiny bell peppers for ~$5. They’re all red, yellow, and orange also!

I just want to add one more thing about the “dirty mug” fallacy. Mythbusters did an episode about what the dirtiest item was in your house. It was not even close: the Kitchen sponge.

After hearing how much bacteria festers on that innocent looking sponge/scrubber, I find myself washing almost everything with just hot water (no sponge). And considering that I never get sick, I’m convinced that no wash is actually the healthy thing to do.

My friends and I always quote that Chris Farley skit whenever we eat french fries….hahaha makes me crack up just thinking about it. I like that you are doing the fashion posts! it sort of makes me want to do it to…to hold myself accountable to not look like a bum when I go to work 🙂 Janetha has been doing it too and I just love the idea!

Not the cheapest option, but I may order sometime to try them.
