FitnessGlo

May 19, 2013 by Julie 504 Comments

Good morning! I hope you guys are enjoying a fabulous weekend!

Between the SHINE Women’s Conference on Thursday and Friday and my AFAA Group Exercise Certification course yesterday, I feel like I haven’t had much computer time with you guys! Friday was the final day of SHINE and we all agreed that it was fabulous. On Thursday night they opened with “Oh Happy Day!” and I basically freaked out. That song is so fabulous.

SHINE was the first Christian women’s conference I’ve ever attended and I have only good things to say about it. I am still very much growing in my personal journey and am glad I was able to attend the conference with my mom and sister and my sister’s boyfriend’s mom and sister. We had such a warm group and I loved listening to the various speakers with such kind, loving women.

Yesterday I spent the day at an AFAA Group Exercise Certification workshop and will know the results from the practical and written exams within four to six weeks. I think it went really well and I’ll be sure to share more about the experience on the blog soon.

And now I have something to share with you guys that I think many of you will  enjoy, especially those of you who are on the go a lot, don’t have a gym membership or prefer to work out at home.

FitnessGlo

In between the conference sessions on Friday, we had a two-hour break and since were all feeling a little antsy from sitting for most of the day, we decided to do an at-home workout. I plugged my computer into the television and my sister and I spent some time on the FitnessGlo website selecting a workout we thought we all might enjoy from the various videos available on the site.

FitnessGlo Workouts

I first learned about FitnessGlo through a partnership with FitFluential and was immediately impressed with the workout videos on the site. There are tons! (Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are 100 percent my own. I loved this site!)

FitnessGlo is a website created for women by women with busy women in mind. The website features workout videos with varying intensities from level one (On My Way) to level three (Good to Glo). Their videos last anywhere from five to 45 minutes, so they’re perfect for on-the-go women who might only have a small amount of time to squeeze in a quick workout before work.

We decided to try Ilyse Baker’s barre workout because I already knew I liked her teaching style since I’ve taken a dance class with her before at the Reebok headquarters last year.

Ilyse Baker FitnessGlo

Her energy is contagious without being annoying. She’s motivating but lets you know she’s feeling the burn, too!

FitnessGlo Barre

The workout lasted 30 minutes and we were engaged the entire time.

FitnessGlo Workout

We started sweating and definitely felt the burn! My sister and I liked it so much that we decided to try another 30-minute video immediately after the barre workout. We selected Amy Dixon’s Cardio Athletic workout which included lots of intervals. It was right up my alley!

Cardio Interval Workout

I loved the format of the workout and the way Amy took us through several exercises for 30, 60 and 90 second bursts of intense cardio. My sister and I were super sweaty by the end of this workout! Amy was awesome… and kind of looks like Laura Prepon from That ‘70s Show to me a little bit! I’m also hoping to pitch a similar class to my boss at the gym because I think it could be a hit in a group exercise format.

The site makes it easy to sort through videos by duration, workout type, instructor and level.

FitnessgloIf you need a little push to start your routine, FitnessGlo offers an 8-week customized jump-start program and ways to track your workouts and make sure your routine includes a balance of strength, cardio and stretching.

Access to the FitessGlo website costs $12 a month, but anyone can receive a free 15-day trial. And one of you will win a free 90-day membership!

To enter this giveaway for a free 90-day FitnessGlo membership, simply comment on this post telling me why you are looking for a great at-home workout option or what type of workout video you’d be most excited to try. Barre? Core strength? Cardio dance? Let me know!

I will randomly select one winner on Monday.

Good luck!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

How fun does this site look? I do project-based work and my hours (between work, kids and home) are erratic so I have trouble finding exercise classes that fit my schedule. An on-demand option is terribly exciting!

This would be great, because I sometimes can’t fit in an entire trip to the gym, and I still like to get in a workout. This looks like a fantastic option! I would love any strength training videos because I am trying to tone up for my upcoming wedding! 🙂

This site looks awesome 🙂 I’ve been thinking lately about picking up a fitness pay-per-month site to mix up my fitness routine, and FitnessGlo looks like it might be the way to go! Not the cheapest I’ve seen, but I really love the idea of a for-women-by-women workout site 🙂

I’m trying to switch my gym time from evening to morning this summer but I unfortunately do not have a gym near me, so I’m going to be doing a lot more at home workouts. This would be great to help with the transition!

I would love to try out FitnessGlo. I recently became active, even taking up running – which if you know me is a miracle since I have never enjoyed. I found your site a few months ago and have kept up daily taking inspiration from your posts. FitnessGlo would add some fun cardio and strength training classes to my days when I am not running. Thanks for the posts!!

I’m a mom to two little kids and I also work full-time. I made it my goal this year to devote my time after work to my kids and not workout (unless it was a workout that could include them). So now I’m trying to find ways to work out during my 30 minute lunch break or early in the morning. It would be great to try out the cardio dance videos – sounds fun!!

Core strength would be a great area for me to focus on, and of course I would love to try something fun like dance cardio/zumba!

I’ve had THE most rediculous travel schedule this month for work and have been away from home (and my gym) for 24 out of the last 30 days. All this the week after my last half marathon! So I’d LOVE to have several at-hand, in-home workout options like this!

I live abroad as an au pair in France and I get paid barely enough to go out to the movies once a week, much less enough to afford anything for my health. My host family feeds me heavy/fatty French food (even though they know about my high cholesterol) and I often feel absolutely helpless when trying to stay healthy and fit in this strange environment far from home. I have resorted to digging into my meager savings in order to afford a few fruits a week, some protein powder, nuts, etc (and sneakily eating them in my room), but I still can’t afford a gym membership in France – they’re insanely expensive! I would love an opportunity to exercise for free, in the comfort of my little room, so that I can fight off the cholesterol and overal health deprivation that I live in here in France. Its an uphill battle, but I’m working every day to be stronger, inside and out. I have my fingers crossed for FitnessGlo!!!

For the last year I have been primarily walking for exercise, but after adopting a super-sniffing beagle six months ago, the pace of my walks has slowed considerably. I need another boost to my exercise routine that I can do after my husband goes to work and I need to be home with the kids before work/school. In the past I have loved doing videos but, let’s face it, they can get old fast … so I love the idea of having a lot to choose from!
