Good morning! I hope you guys are enjoying a fabulous weekend!
Between the SHINE Women’s Conference on Thursday and Friday and my AFAA Group Exercise Certification course yesterday, I feel like I haven’t had much computer time with you guys! Friday was the final day of SHINE and we all agreed that it was fabulous. On Thursday night they opened with “Oh Happy Day!” and I basically freaked out. That song is so fabulous.
SHINE was the first Christian women’s conference I’ve ever attended and I have only good things to say about it. I am still very much growing in my personal journey and am glad I was able to attend the conference with my mom and sister and my sister’s boyfriend’s mom and sister. We had such a warm group and I loved listening to the various speakers with such kind, loving women.
Yesterday I spent the day at an AFAA Group Exercise Certification workshop and will know the results from the practical and written exams within four to six weeks. I think it went really well and I’ll be sure to share more about the experience on the blog soon.
And now I have something to share with you guys that I think many of you will enjoy, especially those of you who are on the go a lot, don’t have a gym membership or prefer to work out at home.
FitnessGlo
In between the conference sessions on Friday, we had a two-hour break and since were all feeling a little antsy from sitting for most of the day, we decided to do an at-home workout. I plugged my computer into the television and my sister and I spent some time on the FitnessGlo website selecting a workout we thought we all might enjoy from the various videos available on the site.
I first learned about FitnessGlo through a partnership with FitFluential and was immediately impressed with the workout videos on the site. There are tons! (Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are 100 percent my own. I loved this site!)
FitnessGlo is a website created for women by women with busy women in mind. The website features workout videos with varying intensities from level one (On My Way) to level three (Good to Glo). Their videos last anywhere from five to 45 minutes, so they’re perfect for on-the-go women who might only have a small amount of time to squeeze in a quick workout before work.
We decided to try Ilyse Baker’s barre workout because I already knew I liked her teaching style since I’ve taken a dance class with her before at the Reebok headquarters last year.
Her energy is contagious without being annoying. She’s motivating but lets you know she’s feeling the burn, too!
The workout lasted 30 minutes and we were engaged the entire time.
We started sweating and definitely felt the burn! My sister and I liked it so much that we decided to try another 30-minute video immediately after the barre workout. We selected Amy Dixon’s Cardio Athletic workout which included lots of intervals. It was right up my alley!
I loved the format of the workout and the way Amy took us through several exercises for 30, 60 and 90 second bursts of intense cardio. My sister and I were super sweaty by the end of this workout! Amy was awesome… and kind of looks like Laura Prepon from That ‘70s Show to me a little bit! I’m also hoping to pitch a similar class to my boss at the gym because I think it could be a hit in a group exercise format.
The site makes it easy to sort through videos by duration, workout type, instructor and level.
If you need a little push to start your routine, FitnessGlo offers an 8-week customized jump-start program and ways to track your workouts and make sure your routine includes a balance of strength, cardio and stretching.
Access to the FitessGlo website costs $12 a month, but anyone can receive a free 15-day trial. And one of you will win a free 90-day membership!
To enter this giveaway for a free 90-day FitnessGlo membership, simply comment on this post telling me why you are looking for a great at-home workout option or what type of workout video you’d be most excited to try. Barre? Core strength? Cardio dance? Let me know!
I will randomly select one winner on Monday.
Good luck!
Ok…starting a new job, working 12hr shifts….at night! Help, this is exactly what I was looking for to fit in some quick workouts with new schedule!
Sometimes I don’t have time to get to the gym with responsibilities at home so this would be perfect!!!!!
I need the at home workout so bady. Just finished month one of chemo and now it’s time to get back up and moving. This would be a perfect start.
I love running outside and going to the gym, but sometimes I just don’t feel like commuting anywhere ( I live on a main road and have to drive to a safe place to run outside). Exercising at home takes the commute out and since i drive 1 hour each way to work, sometimes i don’t feel like driving any extra. Plus at home videos are usually really fun and fly by for me
I would love to try a video featuring core strength! I’m absolutely horrible at motivating myself to do abs, so it would be perfect for me 🙂
I love this! I’m always trying to create my own at home workouts since I don’t have a gym membership. I’ve heard so much about barre on other blogs, but I’ve never been able to try it… I think i would love it..since I love dancing!
I really didn’t feel like going outside for a run or heading to the gym today, so your post came at the perfect time. I signed up for the free trial and did one of Ilyse Baker’s Barre workouts based on your recommendation and loved it. I usually can’t get into videos and get bored with them, but this kept me going for the full 30 minutes. Would definitely love to continue with this – what a great website!
I would love this website!!! I am in serious need of at home workouts because my gym membership doesn’t start until August!
Sounds like a great site! I would love it since I travel a lot!
I’m interested in trying the barre workout!
I love at home workouts because I am much more likely to get up and move when I don’t have to get ready and drive somewhere first!
this looks awesome! perfect for all the traveling i do!
Oh I am SOO excited about this idea! Between my kids (2 beautiful toddlers), working 24-hour shifts (yes, straight! I am a paramedic), and taking classes/having homework, I just can’t afford the cost or time to go to the gym… and I am seriously in need of it after two pregnancies! I have tried a couple workout DVDs, but have yet to find one that I really love. I have heard a lot about barre and have been dying to try it!! Thanks 🙂
This looks great! I just moved and no longer have a gym anymore so this would be great!
I tried out one session on FitnessGlo right after reading your post. I loved it (tried Amy Dixon’s)! At-home workout is convenient and flexible. No commute or change of outfit. I’d like to do more athletic cardio and interval training in the future.
I will be working a lot this summer and probably won’t have much time to make it to the gym. An at-home-workout option would be perfect!!! I’d love the dance cardio, definitely a good way to move after a long day in an office!
The gym I joined doesn’t always have classes that work with my schedule so I’d love to have another option at home! Have been wanting to try Barre classes for a while now!
After I get home from work, the last thing I want to do is get in my car and drive to the gym (my job is super stressful and leaves me feeling drained most weekdays). I would love to be able to work out at home more often with FitnessGlo!
I travel 50% of every month for my job, but I always have my computer and a TV in my hotel room, so this would be a perfect way for me to stay in shape!
I’m looking for a great at-home workout option because I get bored easily, but with this site it seems that there is enough variety and workouts to never get bored!
Ok, as the most uncoordinated person in the universe…I find it a little hard to stay in sync with others in group classes. That being said, I looked through the site and I am most excited to try out the cardio athletic videos. I love anything with punches and kicks! HIYAAAAAAH!
I am in the process of moving and am in-between gyms right now. I would love to use FitnessGlo to keep up with my fitness goals (and relieve some stress!) during this crazy time.
Since I just had our little guy 7 weeks ago, at-home workout options are my best option these days! I’d love to try these out!
I would absolutely love to try a barre workout for the first time!
I’m always looking for a workout that I can do at home with minimal equipment, but that keeps me interested and challenges me physically. Sounds like there are some great options on FitnessGlo!
I’d love this. I do have a gym membership but it has limited childcare hours that are hard to work with at times so I can’t even go (kids are 1.5 and 5.5). I’d like to try a barre class!
I would to do more core strength and cardio kickboxing workouts!
I’d be excited to try the barre workouts! I never took ballet and it’s something I really wish I had done as a child. Ballet just looks like so much fun, and so graceful!
I would love to try a barre workout!
I’m so glad you posted about this site, Julie! I’ve never heard of it but I’m excited to check it out. I ended my gym membership and only work out at home now and would want to try the barre workout first since I’ve been curious about that!
I love LOVE barre workouts. But there aren’t any studios near me! It would be awesome if I could have an online site for them!
I would love to try a barre workout!!
i can’t afford a gym membership and there aren’t any convenient location close to my house. i need something quick in the morning or evening.
I would love to try the barre workouts! I’ve heard such good things!
I just looked up this the website and it looks great! I am always looking for new workouts and this would be perfect!
It’s nice to have access to such a variety of workouts from home, on your own time, especially since my gym doesn’t offer certain things or hold classes at times that are good for me. The barre class at my gym isn’t really barre, so I’d love to try this one out.
I’m a full-time student dedicated to health and fitness. Finding time to squeeze in a workout between schoolwork and my job can be difficult. I think FitnessGlo could be the perfect way to fit in workouts 🙂
We’re getting ready to have 2 kids in college and a gym membership won’t be in the budget. I’d love to have all the options that FitnessGlo offers!
I would love to try Barre!
Hey Julie!
This is the first time commenting on your posts since I came across your blog last summer, and have to admit I have a bit of a girl crush on you! haha. You are so motivational and fun! What I love most about your blog is how unpretentious you are… you’re just a regular women, working out and eating (mostly) healthfully because it makes you feel good, and you want us, your readers, to feel good too. I love it all. 🙂 I can relate to wanting to make people feel good too, as I am currently in an accelerated graduate nursing program. I love every minute I spend with my patients and can’t wait until I graduate (August 2014), so I can really help those in need. Which is why I would LOVE it if I could win FitnessGlo… I’m a starving nursing student (hehe), with an incredibly intense schedule and hardly anytime to myself for staying active. With FitnessGlo I could do 30 min workout breaks in between my studies! It’s just what I need to stay healthy so I can help others get healthy. 🙂 Thanks for your consideration, Julie.
I do campus ministry with college students so my schedule is always crazy! This would be super helpful to be consistent with work outs with my crazy schedule 🙂
I work crazy hours so the gym is rarely an option for me. I’ve been wanting to try a barre class and doing it in the comfort of my own home is even better!
Hi Julie! I am always so impressed with your posts! You always offer great suggestions for women to fit working out into our lives, and as a women who just canceled her gym membership, this post came at the perfect time! I would love to check out Fitness Glo and see what it’s all about!
I’d love a membership here! My work schedule is so crazy that I’m always looking for at home workouts that I can do before or after work without having to run to a class or the gym!
My workiis moving to 10 hr days whicj will make my normal routine of early s.m. worots a struggl e bc my gym doesn’t open until 5:30! Ha ving an at home option wold definitely help me get my workouts in. Id love to try all types of workouts… especially interval training and yoga.
I need more variety in my workouts and since all of my workouts are from home this would be perfect for me.
I look for cardio workouts, because I hate the monotony of cardio at the gym! I like to be able to change it up every few minutes.
Id love to try out this site because I’ve been working out at home more and more lately because it’s so much more convenient in the morning than driving to my gym which is 20 mins away-I’d love to try the barre or cardio interval workouts! Thanks Julie!
I just graduated from college and I am currently in the transition of moving to a new city. Having access to these great at-home workouts could not come at a better time since I will be without a gym membership for the next few months!
Ooooh! I’d love to try a cardio dance video!
I do a lot with Core workouts, weights, and running, and used to be a dancer, so something combining dance with exercise sounds like a blast to me!! 🙂
Thanks for the opportunity, Julie!
