Frozen Yogurt the Size of My Face

April 18, 2012 by Julie 62 Comments

Every day I eat a morning snack. Usually my morning snack time occurs around 10 a.m. Eating something around 10 a.m. usually helps tide me over quite nicely until lunchtime.

Today, I ate my snack and headed out the door around 10:30 to make it to the other side of town for an 11 a.m. meeting. (Ryan and I literally live at least 20 minutes away from almost anything worthwhile in Ocala.)

The meeting lasted until close to 1 p.m. and by the time we got out, I was really hungry. And then I remembered that I was less than 5 minutes away from a frozen yogurt shop.

I figured I would get a little cup to eat before I ran some errands that would help stave off hunger until I got home and could fix myself a healthy, substantial lunch.

Does a cup nearly the size of my face count as a “little cup?”

I polished off that whole cup and let’s just say my appetite was sufficiently ruined.

The nasty under-the-whipped cream view:

frozen yogurt 011

Such a mess. Such a delicious mess.

My cup included peanut butter and chocolate frozen yogurt, topped with a bunch of peanut butter and chocolate-based toppings including Reese’s peanut butter cups, Reese’s Pieces and Butterfinger crumbles.

My fellow former Girl Scouts out there (or Girl Scout cookie connoisseurs) may recognize the Samoa (Caramel Delight) cookie in there. Oddly enough, I didn’t really enjoy it as a frozen yogurt topping. Frozen crumbled Thin Mints are where it’s at when it comes to ice cream toppings! (I should definitely add frozen Thin Mints to the list of crap food we always had on hand when I was a child. They were in our freezer year round!)

So today’s lunch wasn’t the best decision ever, but it was a nice treat and a good reminder to pack a snack in my purse if I think I’m going to be out and about through my typical lunchtime.

After my frozen yogurt break, I stopped by the office of one of my freelance clients to discuss some upcoming assignments and some story ideas I have for the future.

On my way home, I swung by Ross to see if they had any shoes I can wear with the fluffy dress I bought to wear for the America-themed formal night of our upcoming cruise. (Yes, I said fluffy. I’m going to be a vision in tulle. Just you wait!)

While they didn’t have any shoes that would work, they did have this little number that I think someone should buy immediately. Tinkerbell, perhaps?

tinkerbell dress

I also tried on a cute maxi dress that I thought might be fun for our cruise, but I didn’t end up buying it.

I really liked the one shoulder ruffle, but it was a little too short. In the above photo, I have it yanked down as far as I comfortably could without the promise of a nip slip.

Any dress that comes along with the potential for a nip slip is a no go.

Time to cram in some writing before calling it a day!

too bad the maxi dress didn’t work out, you look adorable! i have never tried one on that wasn’t dragging all over the floor (5’2″ problems) so I cannot relate at all to a long dress being short 😉

Hahah I love love love the title of this post! Frozen yogurt is possibly the best treat EVER (other than chocolate + cupcakes, of course!).

Have you ever tried Menchies, or do you have one close to you? Speaking as a fro-yo connosieur, I must say that it is the best one! They’ve got so many different flavours & are constantly rotating them based on the season. They’re so relaxed on letting people self-sample as well, so you could literally go in there, sample all the different yogurts, & then decide to committ or not! The best flavour is the red velvet mmmm 🙂

Can’t wait to see your “fluffy” dress. Sounds very poodle-ish hahah!

I’m 5’6″-ish as well. I have a blue maxi dress from the gap that I adore but it’s a few inches too short (what are the 5’8-9″ ers wearing if they don’t even fit us??).

I can never make up my mind when it comes to flavors so I always do 2 layers! Yum. i dont blame you for wanting to treat yourself since you live so far from a fro yo place. I go a lot because I live super close to one, which probably isnt the best thing haha

Ohh that frozen yogurt sounds fantastic!! I can’t believe your fro yo place had girl scout cookies as toppings!! So awesome! I agree though- anything with caramel in it just hardens with the yogurt and isn’t so appealing. And that dress is cute but bummer about the length!

I love to sometimes eat dessert for lunch or dinner! It doesn’t kill us, and sometimes its just too easy and good to pass up! I would get exactly the same combo as yogurt as you did. If I lived near a frozen yogurt place, I would probably eat a huge cup the size of my head too many times for lunch. Guess its good I don’t live near one. Good luck with dress shopping! 🙂
