Hello From The Road

August 27, 2014 by Julie 27 Comments

Hello from the road!! (This post is being published from a pit stop at Starbucks!)

Ryan and I are currently en route to Florida where we will be moving out of our place in Ocala tomorrow and Friday. I know enough to expect it to be a pretty big pain in the tush, but there are two big lights shining at the end of the tunnel:

1.) We should be done by Friday evening which means we will have the whole holiday weekend free to spend with my family in Jacksonville!

2.) We will be that much closer to moving into our new house (hopefully next Friday!) and getting out of this funky limbo stage we’re in.

Yes!!!

Breakfast

I woke up today around 6:45 a.m. and opted out of an early workout in favor of getting some things done and typing up my morning blog post. While I worked, I enjoyed a smoothie made with banana, avocado, spinach, milk, cinnamon and a bit of honey.

The smoothie did a decent job of satisfying my hunger and fueling me through a late-morning BodyPump class!

I drove to a local aquatics center to take the class since they don’t require you to be a member and I could simply pay a $5 one-time fee.

Unfortunately the fee didn’t give me access to the pool otherwise I would have been all over that! Next time…

I was in and out of the gym in an hour and left the class feeling great. BodyPump is one of my favorite workouts because it’s so darn energizing and truly makes me feel strong.

Lunch

On my way home, I swung by Subway to grab lunch since our fridge and pantry are pretty bare at the moment. (We’re down to oatmeal, almond milk, questionable cucumbers, beer, gummy vitamins and peanut butter… and the peanut butter is now in my purse. Ha!) I was craving a salad and went for the chopped club salad with a side of kettle cooked potato chips.

I’m not usually a chip kind of girl (my sweet tooth is ridiculous, but salty snacks don’t tempt me as much), so I was surprised when the chips called to me. They hit the spot!

Once I arrived home, I ate my lunch and took Sadie on a quick 20 minute walk around the neighborhood before heading home to pack and finish up some things on the computer before Ryan arrived home from work and we hit the road.

I’m hoping to check in with you guys tomorrow from Florida! We canceled our internet before we left Ocala back in June, so it may be a little tricky, but I’m hoping to pop in at some point.

Have a great evening!

Oh man, bummer that you didn’t get to use the pool, few things feel better while traveling than a stretch out swim.

Does the avocado in a smoothie make the smoothie creamier? It’s always irked me out to drink avocado.

Good luck with the move. My favorite tip is to pack a box with everything you need to make the bed (sheets, pillows, blankets, comforter, etc.) and everything you need to take a shower (towels, soap, shampoo, hairdryer). Mark that box with big stars on every side so you can spot it anywhere in the house. If you get unloaded into the new house late in the evening, you will be able to take a shower and make the bed without digging through dozens of boxes to find those things before going to bed. You could also include whatever you need to make tea/coffee in the morning + snacks.

Moving limbo is the worst. It’s always super tough to find good food to eat when all of your kitchen stuff is packed away. I hope the move goes smoothly! Good luck!

good luck with the move! i’m moving from the apartment i’m at right now into a different apartment at the beginning of the month.. at the same time that i’m looking forward to getting settled into my new place, i’m definitely not looking forward to the actual moving part (especially considering i have some stuff here in LA, some stuff at my parent’s house in northern california, and am lacking all furniture. hah.).

& that smoothie sounds really good! did you use any frozen ingredients or just fresh?

I’m so excited for you guys to move in! Such a big moment in your life :).

I took a couple body pump classes at my gym a few years ago, but I don’t think they offer it at my college! Bummer!

Oh man a pool is a MUST when you’re in Florida in August! It must be so hot and humid down there right now, I bet you’re ready to get back up to Charlotte. I have got to try Body Pump after hearing so many good things about it, must look into that…

Good luck with the move! Moving is such a pain but you’ll be happy when it’s over!

I’m not one for the salty snacks as much as the sweet either…I do like chips from time to time but I’d rather have a cookie. 😉

What is the amount of weight you use for BodyPump? I am starting next week and was wondering what your routine with weights for BodyPump is. Do you switch it up, or keep it the same every time you go? Thanks!
