I'm All Alone

February 4, 2010 by Julie 18 Comments

As Donkey from Shrek would sing, “I’m all alone… there’s no one here beside me…”

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JyvmcoyHdw&feature=related]

(Sadie just gave me a nasty look for discounting her company.)

Ryan left around 6 p.m. for soccer game tonight, so I was on my own for dinner. You know what that means… Breakfast fo’ dinner!

Dippy Eggs!

Maybe I’m a sucker for good marketing, but I really do think Eggland’s Best eggs taste better… I don’t know how to describe it… I just like ’em! I can’t taste the “extra vitamins” they claim to have (nor would I want to), but I can taste deliciousness.

I made two dippy eggs and toasted a whole wheat Arnold sandwich thin for yolk dippin’.

On the side I enjoyed strawberry sorbet which I made by blending a couple large handfuls of frozen strawberries in the food processor. How’s that for a healthy dessert?

Peanut Butter Fingers at Her Finest

Look what arrived in the mail for me today:

Hell's Kitchen Homemade Peanut Butter

PB Delight

Peanut Butter Fingers!

My friend Krystina sent me this amazing jar of deliciousness from Hell’s Kitchen in Minnesota. I honestly cannot express in words how good this tastes.

Obviously a lot of this (below) has occurred this evening… and I don’t see it stopping any time soon.

Peanut Butter Fingers in Action

As both a peanut butter lover and a texture fanatic, this little jar satisfies two of my favorites in every finger full!

Five Fun Foodie Facts

Ally from Sweet & Savory told me about a fun little foodie questionnaire yesterday, so I thought I’d give it a go!

When did you discover your love for cooking/baking?

Though I’ve always loved baking, I discovered my love for cooking about a year after I graduated college… There’s only so many Lean Cuisines, hot pockets and instant oatmeal packets a girl can handle. I slowly stared making homemade dinners and experimenting more and more. Turns out it’s pretty darn fun!

Favorite food to make?

Baked goods! I think homemade cookies (especially Christmas cookies) are my favorite thing to make. The fact that I get to enjoy lots of cookie dough may or may not be the reason behind this selection…

Top eat of all time?

Easiest decision ever: The hot fudge sundae from Houston’s restaurant in Winter Park, Florida. It’s unbelievale. The ice cream is the creamiest vanilla ice cream, and it’s topped with thick, decadent hot fudge, candied pecans and tons of whipped cream. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day… and become a whale.

Most disliked food?

Catfish. Never tried it, never will. It disgusts me. (My reasoning may be found here.)

Food you still haven’t tried to make but want to?

Bread. I’ve made biscuits and muffins, but I’ve never attempted to make a homemade loaf of bread. This is probably a good thing since I’d likely devour the entire thing in 1.5 minutes.

…And I’m off to cuddle with Sadie and read Wicked!

I’m not gonna lie, the first quarter of the book was pretty awful. Thankfully, I think it’s finally starting to pick up as I enter the second half. Phew! At least I’ve only heard fantastic things about the musical. I can’t wait to see it on Saturday!!!

You need a bread machine!! (well you don’t NEED one) but it makes it so easy. I love coming home to fresh baked bread.

Cutting it is a whole other story…

Hot fudge sundaes are my fave dessert ever (and maybe food)- just reading that description made me want one sooo badly. I think Wicked took me a whole semester to read my senior year of college- it definitely picks up but the beginning was slow as heck.

Thanks for answering my 5 foodie fun facts! So fun to read what everyone says…..and “homemade bread” was on my list as well! I have a bread machine (which is wonderful), but I’d love to do it myself someday:)

I totally agree about the novel WICKED!
The booked sucked in my opinion, and I LOVE to read. The Broadway show is SO MUCH BETTER! You’re gonna love it.
Actually, I have never enjoyed any of the books written by the guy who wrote Wicked. He is depressing and too sinical (sp?) for me.
