Irish Foods

March 17, 2010 by Julie 12 Comments

My lunch today did not contain one single Irish food. I’m a bad non-Irishman. 😉

Instead, I paid homage to Italy (where I am also not from), and enjoyed pasta!

Non-Irish Lunch

Wednesday's Lunch

My noodle bowl contained:

  • Carba Nada egg fettuccine
  • Emeril’s roasted gaaahlic + Classico tomato basil pasta sauce
  • Broccoli
  • Mushroom
  • No Parmesan cheese because I somehow forgot it! AHHHH.

Can you spot them all? 😉

Irish Foods

I am making a traditional Irish meal for dinner tonight… Mainly because corned beef and cabbage is one of my all-time favorite meals.

It is often a front-runner for my birthday dinner request.

Aside from corned beef and cabbage, beer and Irish soda bread (duh), I am not too well-versed in Irish cuisine.

I did a quickie internet search and found a list of traditional Irish foods:

  • Potatoes
  • Oats
  • Barley
  • Beets
  • Fish (halibut, cod, trout, herring, salmon, haddock)
  • Irish stew
  • Lamb
  • Shepherd’s Pie

Are you enjoying any Irish foods today?

I wish I was enjoying Shepherd’s pie. Yum!

Oooh i love shepherd’s pie, though I think the irish version usually contains lamb? I like it with ground beef mashed potatoes and corn, yum!

Nothing too exciting on the Irish front for me today! I did have some oats in my protein pancakes though!
