Jam-Packed

October 23, 2011 by Julie 58 Comments

What a full day! Yesterday was jam-packed with family fun from the moment we arrived in St. Pete.

With my aunt and uncle visiting from Washington, we made sure to make the most of their time with us and spent the afternoon on the boat!

cassis 096

My dad and his sister! Can you see the resemblance?

We laughed because while my aunt and uncle thought the weather was quite warm, my family and I were all outfitted in sweatshirts or layers of some sort once the boat got going.

cassis 095

Even Sadie wore her pumpkin shirt! Can you tell she thinks she’s captain of the boat?

cassis 094

She’s such a little ham.

Dinner

After fun on the boat, we came inside to quickly change and head to downtown St. Pete for dinner outside at Cassis.

When we sat down, everyone had a hard time deciding what to order because there were so many delicious options.

At my dad’s urging, I decided on the mussels, but started the meal by sharing butternut squash soup with Ryan.

cassis 207

cassis 208

Both were absolutely excellent. I used several pieces of white crusty bread to soak up all the broth leftover from the mussels. Mmm!

Ryan and I also split a side of the lobster macaroni and cheese.

cassis 210

I wished there were bigger pieces of lobster, but the cheese on top made up for it.

We are a treat.

cassis 109

Doesn’t Ryan look kind of like a serial killer in the above picture? Face brought to you by alcohol. Smile

And speaking of alcohol, drinks basically consumed the rest of our night!

cassis 211

Pumpkin beer for all!

We spent time at Tryst and the Vinoy hotel bar downtown before heading home for Kahlua and s’mores around the campfire.

cassis 213

Such a fun night!

I can’t get over Sadie. She’s too adorable! Does she like wearing the shirt? My dog gets pissed off whenevre we try to dress him up haha. Sounds like a great night!

Aw, that sounds like such an awesome time! I love spending time with family! You and your sister are absolutely gorgeous :). I went to a movie by myself for the first time last night (all of my friends were either gone or doing something else…I do have friends haha) and since Hugh Jackman is incredibly sexy it was totally worth any embarrassment I felt at being alone!

Looks like you had an amazing day. Does Sadie swim? We are taking out dogs to the beach for the first time and I wonder if they will be afraid of the water.

And the food, the soup especially, looked amazing!

I like how the out-of-towners thought it was so warm and you guys were all bundled up…reminds me of how everyone would freak out when a “cold” front hit Miami, when I was living there!
