Mission for Ice Cream

August 9, 2011 by Julie 65 Comments

After an uneventful hotel dinner (tortellini), Ryan and I decided to head out to Mochi again to see if the place was still as slammed as it was last week when we went for some frozen yogurt.

Well… it was.

Mochi must be the watering hole of Ocala or something. I swear we walked in behind a flippin’ birthday party tonight.

We decided it was way too packed to wait, so we knocked some ice cream cones out of some little kid’s hands in anger (kidding!) and drove away, determined to find an alternative place to get some ice cream.

Eventually we stumbled upon Ariel’s Ice Cream and wandered inside.

Not one person in line! (Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, now that I think about it.)

We decided to split a large bowl of cake batter ice cream.

The ice cream didn’t taste anything like cake batter (unlike the fabulous Ben & Jerry’s flavor), but it did taste fantastic. It was full of brownie pieces and had thick fudge ribbons throughout the sweet and creamy ice cream.

There’s nothing like a yummy bowl of ice cream to make you forget about a cruddy hotel buffet dinner!

Time to read The Glass Castle. I’m now halfway through the book and it’s improved a lot in the last hundred pages. (For those of you who have read it, they’re now living in Appalachia and are no longer in the boring dessert. Praise sweet baby Sadie!)  I think I’m actually make it through the whole book!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Glad your book is getting better! I just had some fro-yo with awesome mix ins. I think I may need to take a page out of your book though, and start saying “no” to more things. I’ve been indulging a little too much this summer haha

So weird, I bought that Ben and Jerry’s one because of your post and I don’t think that one tastes like cake batter. More like french vanilla with some fudge swirls. I mean, it’s GOOD and I will eat the whole thing without blinking, but I thought the cake batter froyo from Sweet! tasted more like it. Have you had that one before?
I think I’m not on a mission to try the Ben and Jerry’s S’mores flavor. 🙂

I read The Glass Castle and by the end, I couldn’t put it down. It’s just amazing to me how these kids grew up and that they were actually able to survive. So sad, yet so inspiring. My co-worker actually brought me in Half Broke Horses today, which is the story of the grandmother and how she raised the mother…I’m excited to read it just because I want to know how someone turns out the way she did!

I used to live in Gainesville and Mochi was starting to take over there. Considering the posts where you have mentioned fro yo, they are seriously lacking in the flavor department (only one chocolate flavor?! Nothing nutty?). Plus, they took over the Ben & Jerry’s that I could once walk to. I guess northern Florida needs a few lessons in frozen yogurt. Haha

Also, have you noticed the movie trend to your latest book reads? Sarah’s Key just came out too. The trailer gave me goosebumps–looks good!

I realized earlier today, when I went to my local froyospo (frozen yogurt spot. use it, spread it like wild fire.) that apparently, 3:40 pm is THE time to beat the lines. So if you guys start beating the dinner rush by eating dinner at 2:30 pm, I think you’ll be set.

Is that some sort of super-duper early bird special?

I don’t know what it is about Mochi but it is ALWAYS slammed! We used to live in Gainesville and it was slammed there. We now live in Jacksonville, and even though there’s a better organic place nearly the same price in the same area, that Mochi is still always bumpin’. It’s cray cray! They must put crack in it. (For what it’s worth though, my husband does say that Mochi’s peanut butter frozen yogurt is the absolute best, most creamy and delicious fro yo he’s ever tasted!)

So my family and I went on a 10 day long road trip across the whole entire USA (yes, we’re that crazy family) so I’ve pretty much been eating hotel breakfasts every morning and every time I think “I feel like Julie right now!” Anyways the other day I added a little waffle batter to some original oatmeal and it blew my mind. Waffle batter oatmeal?!? I even surprised myself with that little concoction. You’re doing a great job of putting up with those hotel meals and hope you get your vitamix back real soon though!
