Mud Dog

August 14, 2011 by Julie 48 Comments

Yesterday was a pretty dreary day in St. Pete. The thunderstorms ruined all plans of a day on the water and my family, Ryan and I spent the majority of the afternoon hanging out and catching up. Simple entertainment at its best!

Around 4 p.m., we thought the rain let up enough to take Sadie to the nearby dog park.

It was a good idea in theory. We didn’t realize they’d recently re-sodded the park, so the grass was extremely saturated with water.

Water + Dirt =  Mud = One Dirty Dog

A little mud isn’t enough to dampen Sadie’s spirits so we all enjoyed watching her play, knowing full well that a bath was in her future.

Eventually it was time to head back to my parents’ house, so Ryan and I headed to the washing station to bathe her. Sadie does not like baths, but she is pretty much in love with the drying off process.

This dog loves to be toweled off!

After showering and changing clothes, it was dinnertime and we all decided to head out to the Vinoy Clubhouse for some food.

I had been snacking all day, so I wasn’t really hungry when we sat down. (I hate it when that happens!)

I kept my meal on the lighter side, ordering a bowl of miso soup and a sushi roll.

My dad also split his plate of fries with me.

Dinner was followed by a bowl of chocolate marshmallow ice cream on the couch with the fam before bedtime.

My family and I are hoping to spend today boating. The weather is looking promising for a day on the water!

What is this crazy clubhouse where you can get sushi, miso soup, and french fries?

Sounds like a delicious fusion spot, although I’m not sure that trend has swept the nation quite yet.

Those pictures of Sadie make me laugh! She is so cute. The dog I had as a child hated baths also! When he knew we were preparing to give him one he would run outside and try to “hide”!

He would stick only his head in the bushes, leaving the rest of his body in full view. I think he thought that if he couldn’t see us, we couldn’t see him either!

I miss the dog parks in FL with their bathing stations. The ones up here in NY don’t have that and putting the dirty dog in the car just means the car + the dog need a bath afterwards! Enjoy your time on the water with the family!

I saw the Help last night and I liked it! I thought they did pretty well with the civil rights issues. However, I was really suprised they left out the part where Celia Foote kicks that intruder’s butt 🙂 That was one of my favorite parts in the whole book!

I totally know the feeling of going out to dinner and not being super hungry because of snack action earlier in the day. It is quite the frequent occurrence for me on weekends!

I posted about it last night actually. I went a little milano melt happy and then wasn’t hungry for dinner!…but naturally, had dessert…hahah

I think it’s funny that Sadie hates baths and the rain, but loves swimming. My dog growing up was the same hated baths and could always tell when she was going to get one (i.e. the dog shampoo coming out of the closet), but loved laying in a kiddie pool filled with cold hose weather. She would stay far away from you if you had the hose and was filling it up though.

I know this is a really old response, but wondering if you can tell me, I tried miso soup (the individual container soups) a few times and did NOT like them at all. I really want to buy the paste to try making my own at home, but because the ones I have found are quite pricey and large, I want to find one that is good tasting so I’m not throwing out the entire container. I know miso is really good for you and I want to like it, so I’m hoping the soups I tried were just not a good quality soup, and not that I just don’t like the taste of miso. Can you offer any miso paste suggestions? Thanks
