MVP

March 23, 2011 by Julie 58 Comments

My obsession with my favorite bagelwich creation may be getting a little out of hand.

Bagelwich

The toasted cinnamon (or cinnamon raisin) bagel +melted cheese + jelly combination creates a serious party in my mouth. I just can’t get enough!

Wednesday Lunch

Today’s bagelwich was prepared on a toasted cinnamon Alternative Bagel (I buy them at Publix), topped with melted muenster cheese and raspberry jelly.

On the side I included some sugar snap peas for a little green nutrition.

Sugar Snap Peas

The MVP of the Meal

The bagelwich won the MVP of this meal, hands down. Pretty sure peas can never compete with cheese, so it wasn’t really a huge upset. 😉

One upset did occur during this meal…

More Bagel... Please!

It ended too soon. And I was sad.

All this MVP talk made me remember a proud(?) moment in my (brief) career as a high school swimmer.

At the end of the swimming season my freshman year, an awards ceremony was held where the coaches presented awards to swimmers to recognize their athletic achievements and improvements throughout the season.

I remember watching all of the top swimmers receive awards and clapping for them as they graciously accepted awards for “Fastest Time in the Freestyle” and the like.

When my name was called, I remember being shocked.

You see, I wasn’t very good. In fact, I was pretty bad. (I switched to diving the following year which was a much better fit.) When my name was called, my mind started racing about what wonderful award I was about to receive from my coaches.

“Julie, we have a special award for you. We would like to present you with the award for the most entertaining member of our swim team.”

I made my parents so proud. 😉

Back to work for a few hours! I wish I was playing outside… It’s gorgeous out today!

P.S. The Fashion page was updated this afternoon!

I love that they gave you that award — to be honest, having people on your team who have a positive attitude really helps the team members (who are really good) to perform at their best — at least that is what I believe!

What a great award to get! 🙂 When I was in high school, I got the drama award. I was always an understudy or an extra so it was cool to be recognized. I think attitude goes a long way!

Haha! That reminds me of the time in the 7th Grade when I was on the softball team. I SUCKED. I ran slow, dropped the ball, messed plays up, etc. It was just bad, but i DID try. I’m sure my coach noticed my effort because at our awards banquet, I got the last award of the night— “Most Hustle” award. ugh. so embarrassing, lol.

Oh and I’m super jealous you have lovely weather (well, duh you’re in Florida) because here in good old Rochester, NY it is SNOWING. Ugh I need to relocate lol 🙂 Poor Rush is not liking the return of the cold white stuff–he shivers anytime he has to go out in it!

I think I’d prefer a “most entertaining” award to one for fastest time!!

When I eat bagels I have to eat one side at a time. Kind of like an open bagelwich! If I eat a closed bagelwich I just feel like it’s over all too soon 🙂 And then I make a face like yours.
