No Mood to Cook

October 18, 2011 by Julie 67 Comments

My freelance projects took more time to complete than I initially anticipated this afternoon. I wanted to power through and get them done rather than have them lingering in my mind all night so I worked into the evening, through my normal dinner time.

Eventually I was over snacking through dinner and figured I should sit down to a real meal. One problem: Neither Ryan nor I were in the mood to cook.

In the end we decided to keep things simple.

English muffin pizzas to the rescue!

Roasted green beans served as our side and provided added nutrients to our meal.

And for dessert? I have a mini banana bread oatmeal loaf baking in the oven and it smells fantastic!

October Book Club

With nearly 54 percent of the vote, American Wife is the winning book for this month’s book club!

american wife

On November 15 I’ll dedicate a post to this book that will include my review and discussion questions like I did last time with Room.

I hope you guys will join me! I ordered this book for super cheap (less than $4!) on Amazon.com and it should be arriving this week!

Speaking of paying for books… I really need to get my act together and get a library card. I heard our new local library is actually quite nice and I still have yet to explore!

Another thing I need to do? Get a driver’s license with our new address and my new last name on it. I think I’m going to make it a point to do this before our one year wedding anniversary at the end of the month. Better late than never, right?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

When I was a kid I used to eat english muffin pizzas all the time – only without any sauce. I would just toast an english muffin, then top it with cheese, the microwave it. Weird huh?! I was kind of a chubby kid though, haha!

Pretty sure it took me like 3 months after we moved to go to the library….I guess it is just one of those things we keep putting off! haha.

I changed my name as fast as I could because I knew I would never do it–so I guess I did that one fast! Best of luck-it is sort of a pain….

I LOVE english muffin pizzas-looks delish!

English muffin pizza is the best! Sometimes the most simple dinners are the best tasting. 🙂

I love going to the library. It definitely saves on buying books but the only downside is that you have a time constraint.

I hope changing last names isn’t a huge pain. I think I’m going to do it as soon as we get back from our honeymoon.

It didn’t even occur to me the process involved after marriage with changing your name! Was it a lot of work?

it’s not a TON of work, just kind of a pain! i feel like there should just be a box you check when you get your marriage certificate if you want to change your name.

Do you think buying the books isn’t worth it? I’ve been considering ordering some cheap ones online not only to read but to build up a little library but I’m not sure if it’ll be worth the money.

I got married the same day as you and have yet to change my name, too – I’m considering it part of my husband’s anniversary gift since he’s really excited for me to do it 🙂

Pumped for the new book although my sister got me hooked on “The Last Summer (of You and Me)” – pretty addicting

I changed my name officially very soon after I got the certificate in the mail. On my license, however…I think it took me at least a year, if not more. I had to get a new license a week before we got married and was not in the mood to pay another 30 bucks for another one two months later.

Best part about the whole changing of the name thing was the certificate. We live in Ohio, but got married in Florida, so every time I’d take it somewhere, they’d look at it and say, “This is an application, not a marriage certificate.” “Yeah, except for that big old notarized seal at the top that says otherwise.” I had the library card changed the day I came home from the honeymoon though. I worked at the library so it was easy-peasy, and I didn’t have to explain myself to anyone. 😉

I was in a “no mood to cook” last night, and we ended up with leftovers. It happens! Tonight I made that baked potato soup you made from Skinnytaste – both my husband and I loved it! It’s so easy too.

About the driver’s license – I’ve lived in Utah for a little over a year and a half and just got my Utah driver’s license about a month ago. Oops! 😉

I have a library card since I’ve been a kid, but our local library stinks. All of the funding goes out the window since NYC is in all sorts of financial troubles.

Haha, that’s my sister-in-law’s goal for this Saturday, to get a new license! Although she got married in June. We also had a debate this weekend on whether she should change her e-mail address, which has her maiden name. Personally, I said no; that would be such a pain!!!

Hey, a book I have already read. I am fairly sure this one is loosely based on George and Laura Bush. I’m just saying.

We have those nights, when no one wants to cook. Or I should say me, since I do about 95% of it (and happy with it that way). So once in a while, I say “you are on your own” and I have a bowl of cereal. Or toast.

    Nicole!

i’m a big fan of amazon’s used section. paying for shipping isn’t so bad when i often get books for under a dollar (and often from charity-related places)!

i had passed over American Wife many times but looked at it again when you listed it. since i am a liberal and a pacifist who fell totally in love with a conservative military guy, i def had a new take on the description. i actually also got it on amazon (a penny, plus 3.99 shippiing…all paid for by visa points) and it just hit my mailbox an hour ago!
