Not a Total Waste

July 11, 2011 by Julie 72 Comments

After Ryan got off work today, we drove about 75 minutes to a neighborhood in Ocala to check out the house we saw online that looked like our dream home. Ryan’s official start date with his new company is July 25, so we’re in a bit of a rush!

Before checking out the house, we stopped by Smoothie King for smoothies.

smoothie king 001

Ryan really wanted to order “The Hulk” smoothie from Smoothie King for dinner. He used to get The Hulk all the time in college and became quite excited at the sight of Smoothie King along the road.

I opted for a chocolate smoothie that was only okay. I almost shed a tear when I saw that the smoothie was nearly $5. My Vitamix was not happy about this decision either.

The House

We sipped on our smoothies and polished them off right before checking out the “dream house.”

It had granite countertops in the kitchen, a fenced in backyard, a pool, office space, a gorgeous master bedroom and the location was in the part of town we really like. Plus, it was affordable!

Well, the house was just as amazing as it looked. The bad news? The owners still live there and have yet to find a new place to live…. and they’re looking to buy a new home, meaning the process could take a long time.

Ryan and I were a little irritated because they didn’t explain the situation to us on the phone and waited until we drove over an hour to see the place to explain that they are tentatively planning to move out in September when they advertised that the place would be available August 1. Not cool.

We agreed that the trip wasn’t a total waste because we decided we officially like that part of Ocala and will actively look for homes there.

Plus, we found a gym!!!

The last time we drove through Ocala, we toured four different gyms and all of them were pretty awful.

The gym we saw today offers a bunch of group exercise classes (no BodyPump Sad smile) and has a large area for cardio and weights.

It’s a winner!

And now I’m officially exhausted. I think all the wedding fun from this weekend is catching up to me because I am pooped.

I hope I can keep my eyes open for The Bachelorette tonight!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

After living in three different apartments in 3 years, I can honestly say my HUGEST pet peeve is mis-advertisement. It’s one thing if i get there see osmething in person I don’t like, but if someone just misleads right off the bat, I’m immediately annoyed. PS. this Ryan date on the bach is so….over the top at the end

Hey Julie! Sorry to hear about the house situation; that’s so annoying they would advertise it as available sooner than it will be.

I love that you’re such a huge Bachelorette fan- it is my #1 guilty pleasure! My eyes are closing but I can’t stop watching, haha!

I understand the frustration in finding a place. My boyfriend and I are currently looking for a place. Although we don’t have a deadline, it is still frustrating! Good luck on your search.

Julie, why don’t you get your bodypump certification and start teaching in Ocala? There’s definitely a need!

And as a former non-bodypump group exerciser, they can rock!

let me guess… did you get a chocolate slim and trim? I used to work at smoothie king, and let me tell you- you are WAY better off making your own! Unfortunately, there aren’t many gyms that have body pump. I live in a big city and only one of our gyms have it in one of the least busy areas! The Bachelorette is chock full of drama tonight haha I hope you can stay up 🙂

Glad to see you found a gym! It’s been hard for me. Literally my only choice is my local YMCA. Which is great and all.. But truly no good amount of classes there. A bunch that seemed interesting to me turned out to be for “seniors” only. Hense… Old Men in Spandex.. -Shivers.-

You have every right to be frustrated! I can really relate to your apartment posts. First with the rodents and now with the move in date/stress. I was suppose to have a place august 1st but there was extensive leak damage that they can’t fix till sept! Worst part is, they knew about it before and told me after I signed a lease. Things have worked out this past week and I am sure you will find a place too. All the best on your search! You already have a gym at least 🙂

I live in Ocala and workout at Compass Health and Fitness! If you talk to anybody who is a “real gym rat” compass is the way to go! They also have the best classes, even bodypump! You should definitely check it out and we could even workout together some time! Alsooooo the historic district is a great place and very well located for Ocala! The farmer’s market is downtown every Saturday and the cutest shops are there!
