PBF Gift Guide 2014: Beauty & Fashion Finds

December 17, 2014 by Julie 36 Comments

We’re nearing the end of this gift guide series but if you’re still doing some last-minute shopping, hopefully you will find the few we have remaining helpful!

Just incase you missed the previous gift guides on the blog, here they are in one place:

  • Gifts That Give Back
  • Gifts For Fitness Lovers
  • Gifts For Guys

And now it’s time to share another one!

Beauty and Fashion Gift Guide

Today’s gift guide focuses on beauty and fashion finds. I tried to select gifts that are both fun and affordable (nothing is over $150!) and hope you find something special for a loved one in your life!

Beauty and Fashion Gift Guide

BEAUTY

  • Rollerball Perfume

Marc Jacobs Rollerball Perfume

I somehow always forget to put perfume on before I leave the house, so I love rollerball perfumes you can easily stash in your purse for an on-the-go lovely scent refresher!

Options: Marc Jacobs Daisy, Philosophy Amazing Grace, Tory Burch Rollerball, Clinique Happy, LAVANILA Vanilla Coconut

  • Birchbox Subscription

Birchbox

I touched on this idea during last week’s Things I’m Loving Friday post, but this is a fantastic gift for the beauty product aficionado in your life! Birchbox is a subscription beauty box that includes five high-end beauty samples in each monthly box. It’s only $10 a month, making it a very affordable gift idea! My personal subscription has led to some of my all-time favorite beauty product discoveries and I look forward to checking out the fun little goodies in my box every month.

  • Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow Palette

Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow

I am horrible at doing eye shadow and usually just stick to eyeliner and mascara but for those who are great with eye shadow or want to experiment a little bit with high-quality eye shadow that lasts, this palette from Urban Decay is fabulous! My friend Laurel used it to do my eye makeup (and four of my girlfriends’ makeup) at our friend Kaitlyn’s wedding and we all loved the result! Now if only I could get her to do my eye makeup every day… (Note: If you don’t like the above colors, Urban Decay Naked eye shadow palettes come in a variety of color combinations.)

  • Nice Cosmetic Case

Tory Burch Cosmetic Case

If you’re anything like me, your cosmetic cases are comprised mostly of random cheapies and you have no clue how they ended up in your possession. A super-nice cosmetic case would likely be appreciated by a beauty product lover and even some of the higher-end cosmetic cases are still rather affordable.

Options: lululemon Mind & Body Kit, Tory Burch Trapeze Cosmetic Case, Tory Burch Small Robinson Cosmetic Case (<— love the color of this one but it’s the priciest option), Sweetspot Cosmetic Case, Serena Gold Sparkle Cosmetic Case (<— only $9!) , Kate Spade York Street Davie (<— On sale for $25)

  • Beauty Favorites: Travel Size

Big Sexy Travel Size Hair Spray

Shop for some of their favorite beauty products in small, travel sizes! I know I’d really appreciate someone gifting me my favorite shampoo, hairspray, etc. in small travel-friendly sizes!

Personal favorites: Travel Size Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray, Travel Size Klorane Dry Shampoo, Whish Body Butter

FASHION

  • Stitch Fix Gift Card

stitch fix gift card

If there’s someone in your life who wants to try to be more fashionable in 2015 but has no time to shop or no interest, consider a Stitch Fix gift card! I’ve given this gift to friends, my mom, sister and mother-in-law. It’s a great way to give the gift of fashion without the pressure of picking out the perfect thing! Stitch Fix stylists do that for you!

  • Hayden Reis Tote

hayden reis

I first fell in love with Hayden Reis totes this past spring on a girls’ weekend trip to Sarasota. They’re functional, fashionable and perfecting for toting everything from beach towels and text books to gym gear and clothing for a weekend getaway.

  • Cute Cold Weather Gear

Soulscarf

Consider a slouchy beanie, warm mittens or a cozy scarf for the fashion-lover in your life who wants to look cute through the winter months!

Options: lululemon Totally Toasty Ear Warmer, J.Crew Factory Infinity Scarf, J.Crew Factory Houndstooth Wool Scarf, Agatha Beanie, SoulScarf, lululemon Totally Toasty Beanie

  • Jewelry Tray

JCrew Jewelry Tray

I don’t know what it is about jewelry trays, but I am absolutely loving them lately! I think they are functional, pretty and great for uses other than jewelry, too! I bought this jewelry tray for less than $12 from J.Crew and use it in my home office for paperclips, post-its, a random highlighter and more. This black and white jewelry catchall is also a great option!

  • Wristlet

kate spade wristlet

If you’re anything like me, you can always use a pretty little wristlet, perfect for a grab-and-go way to carry essentials like your credit card, ID, phone and lip balm. When I’m not in the mood to bring a big purse with me somewhere, I grab my wristlet and run out the door. They’re also great for nights out when you don’t want to haul a big purse around with you.

Options: Kate Spade Laurie Wristlet, Kate Spade Harrison Street Bee Wristlet (<—only $39!), Tory Burch Robinson Wristlet (<— Great classic look and color), Merona Wristlet (<—Love this one and it’s only $14!)

More Ideas:

  • Crossbody Purse
  • Cute Pajamas
  • Delicate gold necklace for layering (Dogeared makes adorable necklaces with sweet meanings!)
  • Chunky cocktail ring
  • Lip gloss or lip stain (I love Stainiac!)
  • Creamy body butter (Whish pomegranate or almond body butter is fabulous!)

It’s still in stock online! It’s from the J.Crew Factory store and I think you can get 20 – 30% off online right now?

These are all great ideas, Julie! I never thought about using travel size beauty products as a gift, but they could be perfect for a nice themed gift basket or something.

That was my thought! They also make great travel-size containers, so you could give those with full-size products but for things like hairspray, the travel size items are essential since you can’t transfer it to a smaller container. 🙂

Thanks for the great suggesions! I have the slightly smaller Urban Decay eye shadow case and it’s perfect. The colors are neutral and it lasts a long time. Cute tray too!

Does that stain dry your lips out at all? My lips are so pale, but most lipsticks dry them out! I LOVE gifting birchbox and have done so several times!

This is slightly unrelated to this post… but regarding your post from a few days ago about the Pentatonix, you should check out “Straight No Chaser”! They just released a Holiday album as well with a bunch of featured guests (Kristen Bell, Colbie Caillat, etc.) : )

I got the Naked palette a couple years ago and it is my favorite for natural looking eye makeup. Ive also calmed it down with my makeup and really only wear eyeliner and mascara, but for days/nights when I want to add a little more I always go with that. Urban decay is actually my favorite for eyeshadow so I definitely recommend it.

    Thanks for the guide!

I think an eye shadow palette is the perfect gift for a makeup lover. I have the Naked and Naked3, and I love them both for different reasons. If someone is looking for smaller options, I think the BareMinerals and Too Faced palettes are also great.

Julie, question for you. Which “type” of Birchbox do you subscribe to? Traditional, trend setting, or customer favorites? I’m thinking about buying for the sister in law, but I’m not sure which one to select!
