Ready for the Weekend

May 14, 2010 by Julie 30 Comments

Though I thoroughly enjoyed the change of scenery on our morning run, I think the act of driving somewhere new and spending the morning running with Sadie and Ryan made me feel like it should be the weekend already!

Not too much longer… 😀

This Weekend

This weekend should be a fun one!

Around noon tomorrow, Ryan and I are having friends over to grill out before we head over to Beer Fest downtown around 4 p.m.

Beer Fest!

Beer Fest is an all-you-can-drink festival featuring lots of beer, food and fun! I’m thinking some crazy shenanigans will be in order. 😉

I just about flipped out when I heard Mochi, my favorite local frozen yogurt shop, will have a booth at the event.

Beer + Friends + Frozen yogurt = Fantastic Saturday

I plan to have a long talk at Beer Fest with the Mochi manager about the necessity of keeping the red velvet soft serve on tap always. It’s the best one, after all!

Lunch

Lunch today was spent with Ryan, as it was one of the Fridays he has off from work.

Of course we hit up the ol’ ‘John’s for our respective favorites.

Bootlegger club fo’ him.

My Date

Unwich fo’ me.

Yaaaay, Unwich!

Naturally we swung by Mochi for some dessert.

PB + Strawberry

We split a cup of peanut butter (YUM!) and strawberry frozen yogurt with mini Reeses’ pieces, rainbow sprinkles and a Reeses’ peanut butter cup on top!

Gettin’ Tickets

Ryan and I also had a very important errand to run after we were done eating.

We headed down the block to pick up our Beer Fest tickets.

Tickets!

Gotta love saving $5 by buying in advance!

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to my best friend Leah!!!

Fab 5

(Leah is in the green. We called this picture our “Christmas card,” taken our sophomore year in college.)

I’ve been friends with Leah (and all the girls in the above picture) since elementary school and they’re all going to be bridesmaids in my wedding. I am so excited to see them multiple times this year since they all live a plane-ride away now.

Happy 25th Birthday Kafka! 😀

Question of the Afternoon

How many bridesmaids were in your wedding? If you’re not married, how many would  you like to have?

I will have six bridesmaids: My sister (maid of honor), four best friends from elementary school and my best friend from college.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I think I’ll have three bridesmaids. I don’t have any close female relatives, so I think that I’ll be asking my three girlfriends from college. It’ll be perfect since my significant other has one brother and two close guy friends. He hasn’t given me a ring yet, but of course I’ve already picked out my bridesmaids and his groomsmen (and have matched who will walk down the aisle with who)! ;-D

i actually thought about doing that! i didn’t want some of my other friends who aren’t bridesmaids to feel left out & i figured no one could get mad if it was just my sister. 🙂

We had a uneven number in our wedding party. I had 2 bridesmaids (my 2 best friends) and hubby had 4 groomsmen (4 of his lifelong friends).

I had 5 bridesmaids. My best friend from high school was my maid of honor and then I also had my best friend from college, my cousin (and good friend), and my husband’s two sisters. It was a good number. 6 sounds perfect.

I had my sister as my maid of honor, and 3 of my closest gallie pals! I really wanted a few more, but the hubs was limited on those he felt closest with. I had one girlfriend as an honorary attendant (she was in the the program and chose a poem to read). However, one of my husband’s groomsmen was actually a groomsgirl, because his #1 best is a chick. 🙂 All my girls wore black dresses, so she fit in easily by wearing the same black dress next to all the black tuxes!!

I had my sister as the MOH. And then I had 6 bridesmaids: my husband’s sister, a cousin, 3 friends from my home, and a friend from college

My husband had: his brother as his best man, 3 friends from home and 3 from college.

And since we weren’t having kids at the wedding, but I wanted my 3 little cousins there, I had 2 Jr bridesmaids and a flowergirl…..

Large wedding party b/c the total guest count was 97 (we invited 120)

My husband and I got married in a tiny chapel and I really just wanted my parents up there with us (his parents too!), so my Mom and Dad served as my “best man” and “best lady” and his parents did the same. Both of my sisters were traveling far for the wedding (one with a baby), so I really didn’t want them to go to the extra expense of being a bridesmaid. It worked out perfectly, and everyone loved the idea! Plus my husband’s mom had a dress she could wear…and my mom found one that she liked, so they basically “picked” my colors…which ended up being light pink and lilac. Oh, and my sisters walked up the aisle together at the beginning of the ceremony and lit the unity candle for us, so they were still involved. It was a very eclectic wedding…with my something blue being a “Tiffany & Co.” blue wedding cake topped with daisies…and we gave out mini games as our favors. It was the best day ever!
