Shop (Healthy!) ‘Til You Drop

February 16, 2011 by Julie 930 Comments

Approximately two weeks ago, I received a package in the mail from iHerb.com. I was contacted by the company and offered a $50 shopping spree on their site and jumped at the chance  to stock up on some goodies I was dying to try…

Like chia seeds!

Chia for Mia!

And wheat berries!

Wheat Berry Bonanza

And coconut butter!

Artisana Coconut Butter

Ryan and I finished the entire jar of coconut butter in three days. We’re special. And it really is that delicious.

I loved perusing iHerb’s website because it’s a clean, no-frills website that offers a wide variety of brand-name natural products.

In the end, I nabbed the following for $50:

  • Nature’s Answer chia seeds
  • Bob’s Red Mill soft white wheat berries
  • Artisana coconut butter
  • Kashi TLC Honey Toasted 7-Grain bars
  • Now Foods Pistachios
  • Nurture Inc. Strawberry Puffs
  • 2 sample packets coconut butter (1 chocolate, 1 organic raw)

I can honestly say I loved every single product I selected! Seeing as how I received all of these goodies about two weeks ago and only the chia seeds and wheat berries remain, I’d say I liked ’em juuust fine.

And now for the best part of this post!

iHerb.com is offering one reader a $50 shopping spree of their own! Woo!

Now you can stock up on healthy goodies and we can talk about our shared love of chia seeds because I just know you’ll love ’em if you haven’t tried them yet.

To enter this giveaway, simply comment on this post telling me about one item you’d select as part of your shopping spree on iHerb.com if you won this giveaway.

I will randomly select a winner tomorrow afternoon. Good luck!

(P.S. The Fashion page was updated today!)

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I would get a couple bulk boxes of Clif bars – we have about 4 flavours in Canada and I’m dying to try the better ones! Such as … banana nut, carrot cake, peanut butter …

Oh sooo many things to choose from…. I would pick one of the whey protein powers, they can get very expensive but important to have.

I’d try real stevia for my coffee and (like everyone else!) the coconut butter. If you consumed it in three days, I’d say it’s worth a shot!

I would buy A TON of healthy snacks! I work with adults who are mentally and developmentally disabled and I am always trying to sway them over to my way of eating. They don’t believe me that “natures candy” is just as good as “snickers” (**sometimes**) I only can maneuver this in times of desperation! Like when we were snowed in during the great blizzard of Chicago 2011, a few tried my peppers/celery/apple slice mix….they weren’t pleased!

Definitely Coconut Butter! I accidentally bought coconut oil instead (thinking I was getting an amazing deal) and was way bummed out. I still haven’t justified the expense, so this would be perfect for me to try it.

Chia seeds, Chai seeds, oh and did I mention Chai seeds? Ok, Ok, I will throw in a few wheat berries for good measure!

Also, you can make your own coconut butter, soooo easy! Just buy shredded coconut from the bulk aisle at Whole Foods (or wherever they are available), put it in your food processor and turn it on. Walk away and come back in 10 minutes….waalaa…coconut butter!

This year I’m living in South Korea teaching English — and it is absolutely impossible to find chia seeds, coconut butter or any health foods of the like! If I get chosen for the iherb shopping spree I would finally get to test out if those chia pets I grew when I was younger could be tasty in addition to cute 😛 LOVE YOUR BLOG!! xoxo
