So Simple

April 13, 2010 by Julie 18 Comments

All throughout college I tried to grow out my hair. I figured the best way to get the long hair I wanted was to let it grow and grow and avoid cutting it as much as possible. Stooooopid.

Once I realized I should be cutting it every six weeks or so, it finally started to grow! So simple.

I headed off to Great Clips after work today to get my routine snip, snip.

How often do you get your hair cut or done?

After my haircut I headed home to a simple dinner.

I knew I would be home a little later than usual today, so I placed some chicken breasts in the crock pot with low sodium chicken broth to cook on low while I was at work.

When I arrived home, I roasted some broccoli while Ryan removed the chicken from the crock pot, and got to work pulling the chicken apart with two forks before dowsing it in BBQ sauce for BBQ chicken sandwiches.

Everything came together quickly, which was a good thing because I was hungry!

I made my sandwich using a whole wheat Arnold sandwich thin.

I love how doughy they are!

Yeah, I’m bad about getting haircuts…I once went almost a year without so much as a trim! I’ve gotten better, and I’m trying to grow mine out, so I need regular trims!

I get my hair cut usually every 8-10 weeks. I wish my har would grow long like yours…but it has this stalling point where it just won’t grow any longer. I swear! It is so frusterating! But you have the most gorgeous hair I have ever seen! Seriously Julie!

Hi Julie! I’m new to your blog – found it through Caitlin’s/Tina’s recently and I’ve been having fun catching up! I also live with my boyfriend and our dog and have a love for healthy cooking and staying in shape … so I feel like I can really relate 🙂 Speaking of your hair, could you give us some info on how you curl it? I always just straighten mine because I am hair inept (i.e. what straightener you use to curl it, if you use any product…) Thanks!! I need to mix it up a bit!

Hey Julie! I just started reading your blog, and I love it! I just started one of my own too! 🙂 Sounds like we have the same kind of theory on healthy eating AND on crockpot pulled chicken! My husband and I LOVE BBQ crockpot chicken…soo good!
Oh, and I probably go about 10-12 weeks before cutting my hair, even though I know I should go sooner!

I definitely don’t keep up with cutting/coloring my hair as much as I should…it’s so expensive.

    I love sandwich thins. Yum.

I need to remember this haha, but my hairdresser likes to be zealous and cut off 2 inches when I say half an inch…right now I get my hair cut every 2-3 months!

I haven’t found anyone here to cut my hair so I do it every 6 months or so when I go home. So bad I know.

I love sandwich thins that’s all we use now.

We’ve recently switched to Aunt Millie’s Slimwiches – 50 cents cheaper than Arnold’s. Maybe she’s a Michigan thing?

My hair does not get cut often! Maybe every six months or so. For one, I’m in the military so have to keep it slicked back in a bun, and two, I am growing it out anyways, so hair styling isn’t a priority for me!

I get a haircut about every 8 weeks. I have shorter hair though and it’s very curly so I don’t grow it long. It’s only to my shoulders, but still takes forever to straighten!

That look so so good! Do you make your own BBQ sauce? You just threw chicken breasts with the broth into the slow cooker? YUMMY!
