Songs in a Drawer

October 8, 2010 by Julie 46 Comments

I keep a little slip of paper in my top drawer at work where I write down songs I want to download in the future.

STD (No... Not that Kind... Songs To Download, Silly)

I always have random songs pop into my head at work, so having an ongoing list is a great way for me to jot them all down so I don’t forget any of them.

My sister and I are running in a 5k together tomorrow and I want to update my iPod with some new jams. I love running to new, upbeat music on race day. It motivates me and energizes my runs.

(Feel free to leave a nugget in the comments section of this post letting me know which songs you’re loving lately. I’m on the lookout for some great songs to add to my race day playlist for tomorrow!)

On to lunch!

Lunch

Lunch today was a tuna salad wrap with string cheese and a pumpkin spice cookie.

Friday Lunch

I made the tuna salad by combining the following:

  • 1 can tuna
  • 1.5 tbsp. light Miracle Whip
  • .5 tbsp. mustard
  • 1.5 tbsp. relish
  • Broccoli slaw

Tuna Salad

Pumpkin Spice Cookie

It was deeeelish!

I also swung by Mochi to nab myself a cup of fro yo since it’s Friday and I wanted something a little special. I forgot my camera in my office, but I enjoyed pistachio, peanut butter and taro frozen yogurt topped with cheesecake bites, walnuts, coconut and granola.  I want more! 😀

This Weekend

I’m hoping the rest of the work day flies by because this weekend is going to be jam-packed full of wedding and family fun!

Ryan and I are heading to my parents’ house in St. Pete where we’ll re-celebrate his birthday with my family this evening. We have lots of wedding-related to-dos this weekend, so beware of wedding post domination on the blog! Eeeee!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Great idea with the STD (songs to download…haha)! I’m loving the song “Little Lion Man” by Mumford & Sons right now. It’s now brand new, but it’s an awesome running tune! Good luck in your 5k tomorrow! I’m doing my first half on Sunday and will be checking out your half marathon playlist for some new song ideas!

I love Taro fro yo! Oh and I’m really into that CeeLo Green song, FU. I need to get it on my ipod.

I prefer the clean version to the dirty one.

I have “Dynamite” on my songs to download list too! Right now I’m loving the band, Cage the Elephant, specifically “In One Ear”…your fro-yo sounds delicious. Yogrtland brought out the pumpkin pie flavor and I have a feeling it’s going to turn into a regular weekend indulgence!

I just posted 5 new songs I’m jammin’ to…you might like them.

Also, every once in a while I put together a running playlist and make an iMix out of it on iTunes. If you get a good one, you should do the same and share it!

So this is definitely not a new song but I love jogging to Jay-Z/Kanye/Rihanna’s “Run This Town” because of the lyrics – Victory’s within the mile/almost there don’t give up now/only thing that’s on my mind/Is who’s gonna run this town tonight”

I think everybody hit my favorite songs already! I am so with them on “Club Can’t even handle me right Now”, “Like a g6”, “Mine” “Bottom’s up”.
    – Other Ones:
-Just the Way You Are : Bruno Mars
    – Rock That Body: Black Eyed Peas
    – Love Like Woe: The ready Set
    – I Want It That Way :N SYNC ( they NEVER will ever get old!) I’m such a fan
hopefully thats a good little list for you.

That’s funny that you write down your “STD”s” my sister does the exact same thing! I sometimes do but by the time I get to a list I forget them!

Oh, I so approve of your song choices!!! Teenage Dream is such a good song. If you don’t have “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence and the Machine you HAVE to download it! Perfect running song, I mean the chorus starts with “Run fast for your father and fast for your mother. Run for your children for your sisters and brothers.”. How could this not be a good addition to your 5k playlist? lol

“American Boy” by Estelle would be my workout song du-jour if I worked out to music (I swim and cant afford a water MP3..yet).

It’s so nice to see broccoli slaw on a blog…seriosuly! I love that stuff. Love it.

I hadn’t had the tuna idea so thanks.
And for you…I’d recommend doing it up pasta stylee—steam it till good and soft.
Marinara, parm or nutritional yeast…ricotta…bruchetta boca burger…you can do the math. But it’s some good schtuff.
PS–wedding shoes and the bits and pieces of your dress were amazing! You are gonna be so beautiful. What are your colors? I haven’t read much about the avtual “throw-down” I’ll have to read more archives I guess.

Other than that I have a lot of classic rock on my iPod like AC/DC and The Rolling Stones

I’ve observed in the world the present moment, video games are definitely the latest rage with kids of all ages. There are times when it may be impossible to drag your son or daughter away from the video games. If you want the very best of both worlds, there are lots of educational activities for kids. Thanks for your post.
