The Best of Intentions

June 17, 2010 by Julie 35 Comments

Dinner today was a PBF classic.

BBQ Pulled Chicken

Two-ingredient crock pot chicken + BBQ sauce = BBQ pulled chicken!

And on the side, broccoli tossed in olive oil and sprinkled with garlic salt.

Roasted Broc

BBQ Chix Sandwich

Dinner is Served

(Sorry about the not-so-hot quality pictures above. I wanted to try taking pics inside to see if daylight really makes that big of a difference and clearly it does. Outside pics whenever possible from here on out!)

Moving on…

The Best of Intentions

I went to Marshalls today with the best of intentions.

I planned on picking up a pack of Jelly Belly sport beans (I’ve seen them on sale there a billion times), to use as fuel during my 8-mile run on Saturday.

(Why do I want the beans? I am trying to incorporate some kind of pick-me-up, whether it be Gatorade or sport beans, into my longer runs so my body doesn’t cramp up if I decide to drink Gatorade during my half marathon.)

Anyway, I go to Marshall’s to try and find the Beans…

No dice.

Instead, I picked up these:

BCBG Pumps

Not Exactly Sport Beans...

Aaand, as if spending $40 on new pumps isn’t bad enough, I swung by Starbucks for this:

Iced Coffee

What was supposed to be a $2 trip to Marshall’s ended up being a $42 excursion.

Oops.

Please make me feel better and answer “YES!” to the following question…

Are you an impulse buyer?

I typically stick to a list, but sometimes I can’t resist trying that new flavor of gum… or buying a pair of super-cute pumps. 😉

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

i drove past marshalls today and i resisted the impulse to shop. but now i may just have to go tomorrow 😉 i’m not big on the impulse buys, but i do love a good sale. i love to say that i got something for 1/2 the price 🙂 in my mind it’s as if i’m *gaining* money, even though i still spent money to buy it.

I love shopping! I don’t know if I’m an impulse shopper, but I’m definitely a compulsive shopper. It’s killing me right now that I can’t shop because I’m only working part-time!

I’m definitely guility of impulse buys. But I leave the tags on and don’t use/wear the item for a few days so I can reconsider my purchase and return if I end up deciding that I don’t really need it. But cute shoes! And for $40, I probably would have gone for them too!

I would suggest trying coconut water for your half training + race – it’s a natural electrolyte beverage w/o added dyes and lotsa sugar : )

I had an impulse buy just yesterday at Target – oopsie!

I’m an impulse buyer when it comes to two things: food and shoes. I totally support the splurge on those shoes though- they’re a classic style and color, so worth it!

I’m the opposite of an impulse buyer. It takes me forever to decide to buy anything. I’m very good at not spending money.

Although, when I was buying stuff for our wedding, I went to Michaels and spent $40 on pens, justifying it by saying they were for the guestbook. They were so worth it though.

While I shop too often anymore, I love the feeling of coming home with something shiny and new to play with. Oh the things I would buy if I could.

I’m loving your blog btw. Healthy food that doesn’t take hours and/or $$$ to make = awesomeness. You’re like a real person with a life and everything.

I actually hate shopping. Probably because I never have any money, so it is always “oh that’s cute, wish I could afford it” “one day, that’d be nice” so it’s just annoying!

I’m the queen of impulse. And for a little info for all y’all other impulsive shoppers, this is very characteristic of the Vatta personality, which is part of the Yoga philosphy of Ayruveda which a system where the principles of nature, to help maintain health in a person by keeping the individual’s body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature. You can take a test online to figure which “dosha” you really are, but Vatta’s tend to to be BIG impulse buyers. sorry, I’m a yoga instructor….

Anyhow, Bed Bath and Beyond is like the worst place for me! I buy the most useless crap there!

Ahh! Those shoes are so cute!

I’m a classic impulse buyer, but I’m worse. I won’t buy just *one* item. I need two or three to justify the waiting in line, pulling out my card…so of course, I always go in for one specific thing, and if I can’t find it, well I have to buy something, don’t I? So my trip wasn’t for naught? Therefore, I always wander out with new pants, a new cereal bowl, and some random gourmet food that I happened to be craving at the time.

(Hi! I’m a long time reader, btw, and a first time commenter. I’m just really shy. :D)

Oh gosh, Marshalls is a dangerous place! (As are TJ Maxx and Target). I tend to impulse shop most when I’m in multi-purpose stores…The variety of options makes it impossible not to browse!

But while these impulse purchases are terrible for our wallets, they’re wonderful for our closets! CUTE shoes!!
